Games that just aren't here

Post by Kalexon » Mon Feb 26, 2007 9:50 pm

What I mean is game genres or cross-genres you think there just aren't that many of that have been made or are any good. For me it would be Third/First Person Shoooters-RTS combinations. The only game I've seen like that was Gaints: Citzen Kabuto which while it was a very good game, and I don't have many qualms about it, there just aren't that many of them out there.

Also, plot/setting: I noticed that there have been a lot of near future/modern worlds in games, and a lot of nothing else. Let's see a Stone Age TPS/RTS. That would be a game I would play.

You're own thoughts?

I'd consider Black & White a genre of it's own. There aren't many games out there like it...
To put it generically...it's like playing Tamagatchi-on-crack while going on a power-trip.

Alright.. Believable extreme sports games, then. I know only one: Thrasher Skateboarding on the PS1.

Talking about something completely different for no apparent reason, I advise you to check out the Comic-Con Dev Walkthrough of 'The Darkness' on gametrailers.com.. Beautiful game.

Edit: Oh, maybe not PG-rated material there as well. I don't care though.

Ratchet and Clank is a third/first person shooter with a storyline, and its a really good game :D . I was actually thinking of working for Insomniac Games after I graduate from collage 8) .

Isn't that like 8-10 years in the future for you?

Anyway, Ratchet & Clank is a fun game, I totally agree.

RPG/RTS, I imagine more of these being made, but at the moment I only know of 2, Battle for middle earth 2, and another game I can't remember the name of right now.

Decent shareware games.

There are too many commercial games around these days, none of which I can get because they're commercial. Commercial game = Never gonna find it.

With me, if I can't find it online, I'll never get it. Ever. Well, at least not now anyway.

Shareware games aren't always unique, but Determinance is sword-fighting with wii style controls with fighting and flying and dueling. Also, you can buy commercial games online. Ever heard of renting or buying through mail or shipping? Or how about downloading a game through various programs/sites such as Gamespot.com, Steam, Direct2Drive, and more?

Man, Determinance is a waste of precious development time.

Yeah, seriously. The idea is very interesting, but its executed horribly. The game COULD have been good, like maybe if it was some sort of gladiator game (without the flying!!). But yeah, its pretty bad. :P

Yeah, when I heard that you had the ability to fly that sounded like it would just heap something that really wasn't needed and might make it more complex.
