I think the whole issue is sad

In the end it all comes down to fear:
Fear of death; fear of meaninglessness; fear of punishment; fear of self; fear of others.

I suspect the original purpose of most early religions was to ties communities together and help them face these basic fears. If you look at early tribal relgions - they make death a normal part of life: and so the tribes don't fear death.

What we have now is several iterations, rewrites and bastardisations of many different earlier teachings and one story that got overly widespread.

I also think its sad that people don't seem to stop and think about it. I wish I understood why they can just accept what they are being told without questioning it at all.

And I bet that the religous folk who read my post will think similar things of me.

Very sad.

Ok, Do me a Favor and Rewright that ENTIRE THING SUPPORTING religon and we will see if it makes sense.
