Jeff, your first picture is Ants (I think thats what its called).
A really old game where you play as an ant. Gotta love it. Did it ever happen to you that if you dug deep enough, you found a backdoor into the red colony? You end up about 2cm (on screen) below their queen.

Jeffs second is... gah.. what's it called. Future something.

One of the funniest map making system: you used Claris Works to create actual vectorial pics of your level, and grouped each polygon with text giving its properties. Haven't seen anything like that ever since.

I Remember picking that game up from the library along time ago and the thing was so scratched all I could do is look at the awesome album art, that was a long time ago.
