if you read the thread maybe you wouldn't have a knee jerk reaction to what you perceive as a knee jerk reaction :3Madd the Sane wrote:My comment was mostly because it seems that APsychonaut's comment seemed to me to be a knee-jerk reaction to the title of either the article's title or the title of this thread.

Re: Article: Why we don't have more girls in technology
As a manufacturing engineer, I wish there were more girls in technology fields.
Granted, my reasoning is kinda unpure as the only reason for caring about the amount is because I'd like to date girls who are interested in the same things I am.
Getting a blank stare when mentioning anything fairly technical fucking blows. Considering engineering is a huge part of my life (probably the majority of it) it makes me feel like an alien to the opposite sex when it is so difficult to find girls with the same interests as me.

I don't think so, it's the greatest feeling of wat ever.
I wake up every day and go wat.
And at least once every hour too. Shit is the stronge-est feeling ever.

this is easily in the top three songs to describe love ever.
totally unplaceable feelings of awesome whenever your special someone is with you.

That video always reminds me of this one. Apparently the music was written by the same guy.
Also, this is probably a better portrayal of love.

Pretty much.
On an interesting side note, I finally found out where this came from:

It is a travesty of the human condition that you saw the pony version first.

sir i must protest your assertion that your (or my, or anyone else's for that matter) view on this sequence of events is the definition of normality in the human condition.adwuga wrote:It is a travesty of the human condition that you saw the pony version first.
the assumption that we KNOW anything is a fallacy. even science says that observing the outcome of anything can change it.

Yeah, but Kerbin is gay.
Re: Article: Why we don't have more girls in technology
I cannot tell a lie.
I'd totally cut adwuga's throat and rape the wound if given the chance.
That is my gay fetish.

I have to ask though.
What exactly is a 'knee-jerk reaction'?

a reaction to a stimuli that is vastly disproportionate to what inspired it.
think like punching someone in the face for hugging your girlfriend, or the PATRIOT ACT.

Alternatively: "A knee-jerk reaction is an emotional rather than an analytical response to something."APsychonaut wrote:a reaction to a stimuli that is vastly disproportionate to what inspired it.

There is a small difference there. For example, trying to hide or ignore something would be a knee-jerk reaction according to the definition I found, or declining an offer before considering it, even if the reaction isn't disproportionate.
