I enjoyed DII; the expansion pack is really cool, especially the Barbarian Highlands. The two new classes (Druid and Assassin) are cool too.
I played a lot at one time; I had a high level Paladin, and a top level Barbarian.
But I lost heart when I foolishly allowed my barbie to get mobbed near the entrance to the Secret Cow level, leaving me nothing but a sad, naked Barbarian. And I had some really excellent items acquired during innumerable Baal runs.
Ah, well.
I still know a few people who play, but they've been at it for years. They're nice folks but I'm not sure if they want to add a newcomer. On the other hand, they may enjoy teaching you a few tricks.
They owe me a favor anyway; I gave the Amazon among them a Buriza-Do Kyanon ballista for free. It doesn an average of 255 damage, among other things. Got that from Baal.
PS: I thought the best spot in DII was Kurast; I fell in love with Natalya the tease, and then she disappeared on me! My heart was broken, never to heal.
But Asheara the Mercenary had the best lines: "Things are getting wilder than Ladies Night at the Slippery Fist."
If only Natalya had been as naughty as Asheara.
