Nice job using the word "definition" to describe your belief and then going and ignoring the dictionary. It takes a certain kind of person to be that...brave?

There are religions which _don't_ do that?

Nice job using the word "The" to describe "Dictionary". It takes a certain kind of person to be that… Ignorant?

He's not ignoring "The" dictionary, he's defining his own dictionary, his personal defenition of words, what those words mean to him, not what they officially mean. A lot like Urban Dictionary, actually.

Unless I'm mistaken, that is exactly Colicedus's point.

I used the phrase "the dictionary" when quoting his post. Reading the post of the person you're blindly attempting to defend, as usual, would be useful.

Which is the only thing Colicedus is doing.
And all I was doing was telling him he was wrong, which he is.

You do realise he's not wrong? He is not using "The" dictionary's definition of the word, he's using his own. Please explain how he is wrong, according to what the word means to him.

Ah..come on now really..if everyone went around taking things with their own definitions, what would be the point in things like logical debates?

How do you expect people to take you seriously if you come up with incorrect definitions that you'd like to believe are true?

Say I decide to have my own definition of something like, say, "The Nazi Party", and define it as a group of very nice people who just wanted to make the world a better place?

What if we all decided to start making up our own definitions for words? Words would lose their real meaning, people would become incapable of communicating properly without extreme confusion, and the English language would be effectively fucked up.

But..that aside, I guess it's okay to come up with your own definitions for words, even if you are BLATANTLY WRONG.

Does this not show he's presenting it as a fact that Catholicism is a cult? Come on now, seriously, why keep arguing a lost cause? He was wrong..

It does. What's wrong with that? His view of Catholicism is that it's a cult, it's his way of expressing how much he freaking hates it, and does indeed view it as a cult. And personal definitions are fine, but you are indeed a dumbass if you think the Nazi Party (Not actually a word, by the way, so you can't have your own definition anyway.) is a group of nice people trying to make the world a better place. :P

Ooh, the ultimate argument finisher! Call your opponent a dumbass and U R WINNAR! By your unbeatable logic, you are indeed a dumbass if you think the Catholic Church is a cult.
