Like Jay-Z and Nas?

Like I've said before, I like the type of music that's played by talented musicians.

Saying you only like certain genres is bullshit. Tastes can't be narrowed down to specific genres. If you say you just like one type of music, you're lying to yourself and other people. It's just pretentious.
Blorx wrote:It sounds like a freakin 80's punk song
A lot of Metallica songs have elements of punk in them. Like "So Fucking What?". A lot of the earlier stuff.

Oh and btw saying a band is bad just because it's mainstream is just about retarded. Don't be so closed-minded. Popular does not equate with bad.

If you read carefully... (el oh el)

You disregarded the content of the post concerning rap, said you hated it, and were adamant you did not have to give good reasons for this.

THEN you criticised someone else for telling you that you were wrong because they didn't give good reasons for why they liked it.

Now if you cannot see the hypocrisy in that, I'm pretty sure everyone else will. I'm not even sure why you're arguing, it's actually that obvious and clear as day.

Actually, the rest of that post (Which I have now read) wasn't actually relevant. And I think that hating rap music is a pretty good reason for hating rap music. I. Do. Not. Like. Rap. Music. Do you understand now?

Which post do you mean, wormguy's or Zantalos'? I don't seem to recall criticising anyone for that reason…
Renegade_Turner wrote:I'm not even sure why you're arguing, it's actually that obvious and clear as day.
A: We already stopped arguing one page ago, you just decided to start it up again.
B: Clear as day, eh? Um, no. Explanation, please. Preferably with extra quoting.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

I don't even need to argue my points with him...everyone else is doing it for me...and they all know I'm right...he just seems to have a 5 minute memory span.

Rofl "Do you understand now?" <---- Pretending he understands what's actually going on. Cute.

Actually, I do understand what's going on, Zantalos is spouting random one-liner insults, wormguy is trying to explain how "I hate rap music" is not simply hating rap music as a general rule, but a No Exceptions style rule, and you're flaming simply because you find it fun.

You are not "Right" because there is nothing to be right about, we are not arguing any points because there is nothing to argue about.

Since you won't stop this random flaming, this flame war is over. *doorslam*

No, those tactics won't work. You were a hypocrite. Everyone saw it. It's not opinion. It's fact. Just accept it. Lolz

R_T i never said all mainstream sucked
i just said i hate it with a burning passion b/c it killed some very unique bands...
Sigur Ros has had 5 albums now i think...not one of them has taken one step towards mainstream
Coheed and Cambria still isn't mainstream after 4 albums
Pearl Jam has a good many albums that are so many that i'm too lazy to count them...they're still not mainstream
but mainstream did kill Bad Religion, A7X and a few others
you don't have to go mainstream to stay popular
-_-

Dude...they're about as mainstream as you get. Coheed And Cambria. They have EXTREMELY heavy airplay on all the major radio stations. What the fuck else do you call that except mainstream? Mainstream is not a genre. It means popular.

This post points out the fact that you don't even bother to read a full post before passing judgment on it. You probably didn't understand what I was pointing out with my previous post. I doubt you read my post defending rap. As a small example that people like this can be converted, I used to hate rap music until I heard some stuff I liked. You have to give things a chance. You can't just make up your mind and put a wall around your opinion.

Hating rap music as a good reason for hating rap music? Would it be fair if I said:

I think that hating BunnyWithStick is a pretty good reason for hating BunnyWithStick. I. Do. Not. Like. BWS.

You have to have a reason to dislike something, and you haven't done anything to convince me that all rap is objectively bad.

Anyway, the fact that you're trying to end this discussion by accusing people of restarting dead arguments and flaming only highlights your immaturity. Don't just bow out because we're attacking your viewpoint. Back it up.

Lesson learned: Don't walk into a thread about a rap group yelling "ALL RAP IS BAD!" and expect people to sit back and take it.

enh...the way i see it, mainstream is that crowd of bands taht all sound the same and get airtime b/c they're following the more popular other bands
=P

Actually, I was around when Pearl Jam BECAME mainstream, it was around Rearview Mirror, riding on the success of the previous masterpiece album... Then it all went downhill.
They are not mainstream anymore, but they were for some time, and Vedder expressed his increasing dislike towards that fact; they then made shitty music, ditched the good drummers and back they were where there's a reason why your band isn't mainstream - objective suckiness.
I still wonder whether they've sunk the ship on purpose or not.

Pearl Jam was always fantastic for me...dude that album with Rearviewmirror had Daughter and Leash on it. They were great songs man.

I have the Rearviewmirror poster up on my bedroom wall. Along with the N.W.A. poster and the Tony Montana poster and the Soundgarden poster and the Freddie Mercury at Wembley poster.
