The whole point of the apple is temptation, and resisting temptation.
Which is a valid point assuming God is not a being that knows all outcomes. Of course, given that it is claimed that He Knows All I personally take issue with Him knowingly putting into place the key ingrediant required for that particular chain of events... and then getting angry about it.
Thats like seeing your child make a mess with paint on the walls, then travelling back in time to give your child the paint - and then telling them off.

If I were religious, I would just say that God's reasons are above your human mind's ability to comprehend

But since I'm not, I'll just say that religion's a sticky subject for debate...there's always something to argue.

Yeah because you know if someone digs into your chest and rips of one of your ribs out, your first reaction is to bitchslap her, not howl in pain on the ground bleeding with your heart exposed.

That's the fun part surely?
I've long held to the idea that doing things without question is about as damaging as stabbing yourself in the brain. Repeatedly.
Its a very useful survival trait in small children - but there is a very good reason why we rebel against parental figures; unquestioning faith is - in my eyes at least - extremely dangerous.
But I'm aware that others think differently. I can't help but be impressed by people who do genuinely hold onto true faith without question - even if that awe is also edged with more than a taste of fear. I apologise if I'm offending anyone (that isn't my intention) but the kind of faith that people die for frightens me more than ANYTHING else because it defies the reasoning that I feel is neccesary for understanding and peaceful negotiation.
Of course this might not be the place for this so I'll stop there.

I have decided that I will find an image that I think best represents each thread I find interesting:

This one seems most appropriate for this thread.

You're basing your religious accusations off a comedian!? Wow, dude. Maybe it'd be best to just build off what some other have said and maybe know what you're talking about before you start ripping on it... And don't even try passing off the words of an entertainer as valid proof of Christianity being wrong... ¬_¬
^^^^ This guy is apparently retarded. It's a joke. Stop being such a fucking prude. My god I hate mankind.
Note where I said comedian. He was making a joke. He wasn't serious. Fucking get over it. I already stated that the parables were supposed to have underlying messages, and implied that the book was not just random bullshit. UGH.
However, GaGrin made good points. If I were going to be serious, I would have said something along the lines of what he said.
People need to stop being dumb.

I think its wise to fear something like this.
Its this reason I belive that religon kills not just the fear of death, but also the desire to live.

Ooh! Religious discussion!
The Qu'ran does not encourage people to kill infidels
No, seriously. The part where it tells people to kill infidels is like the Old Testament in the Bible - it's not what Islam is actually about.
If Adam and Eve had two sons, and one killed the other, how the hell does that work? And wouldn't that mean we're all related to each other, and therefore any sex is incest!? And isn't incest a bad thing??!!!?!!!?!!?!?!

It's quite possible that "Adam" and "Eve" and "Cain" and "Abel" was actually referring to groups of people

yes, it does mean we're all related. But if you think about it, even if you were an evolutionist, you'd still mostly likely be related to most of the people you know.
And yes, incest is bad. But most of the time it's so distant of family it doesn't matter.
random fact: if you have sex with your cousin, the chance of you having a deformed child is only increased by 3%.
Don't take this the wrong way. I strongly oppose incest of any kind. It's completely immoral and is straight-from-the-Bible forbidden.

ask me about the furries in the correct thread. I haven't stated my views at all there yet so don't put words in my mouth.
and no... it's definitely not the same thing...

I know you said don't take this the wrong way but uh...how would a person randomly come across this fact?
So uh, incest is bad, mm'k.
But at this point, yes though we are all related, i believe you should just try and not focus on that because then your only option is another species. That's where the furries and bestiality enthusiasts come from.
Bestiality is also bad and personally if I would have to choose between having sex with either my extremely distant relative or a kitty, I'm gonna have to go with the extremely distant relative.

(note, my belife is there is one truth, only one truth, and the human race are not 100% all there on it. I belive we must pick up the peaces of what we can find. how ever, I belive our creation is conected with ETs. And at the same time, I belive in the spirit world, and that the Human race is not yet advanced enough to under stand such things. I think the Term is Agnostic?)
