looking for a good animation program

im looking for a good animation tool that will alow me to do backgrounds in full detail and the computer generate the frames between certain points.and if posible i would like this program to be FREE. ty in advance.

This is called 'keyframe' animation.

Blender uses bezier curve keyframe interpolation by default - for info about how to manipulate those curves in the IPO Curve Editor window of blender, see
here.
Note that that's a huge leap into semi-pro territory, you may want to start with simpler tutorials if you've got no clue about animation basics.
If you've chosen blender and have questions because it confuses the hell out of you, ask.
