And one necro-post later, ren still hasn't explained what his point was. And I still have no idea.

Unless you mean that it doesn't count because it isn't "Official". If so, you do realize that since Noob and Newb are not in the dictionary, Wikipedia and Urban Dictionary have pretty much the most official definitions of the words you can get.

Hmmm... I tried making some witty edited screenshots as my (I think) first post.

The point was you cited Urban Dictionary, so I said in a satirical little comment "how about you cite wikipedia next" as in "Wikipedia would be just as retarded to cite as proof of anything". Then Coli goes "Well it said the same thing on Wiki!", hence why I said he missed the point.

Do I have to spell everything out for children?

Well, yes, that was obviously the basic premise of it, considering the situation, but I still fail to see how citing a publicly editable source of information is retarded, since if something is wrong, it'll just be edited out or in Urban Dictionary's case, thrown to the bottom of the pile with a bunch of thumbs-down.

BunnyWithStick should have wrote:Well, yes, that was obviously the basic premise of it, considering the situation, but I still fail to see how citing a publicly editable source of information is retarded, since if something is wrong according to the ordinary public, it'll just be edited out or in Urban Dictionary's case, thrown to the bottom of the pile by the ordinary public with a bunch of thumbs-down.
It is common practice for people to not recognise things as being great or true until they are identified so by some authority.

That's a quite intelligent quote that can be found elsewhere on the forum in a slightly edited form.

So, what you're saying is you know I'm right about the meaning of the words Noob and Newb, but you won't recognize them as having that meaning until it's made official. Yeah, I'm sure internet slang is going to be published in the dictionary some day. I'm suuuuuuure it will.

No, that's not what I said at all. What I'm saying is I don't agree with you and won't until proved otherwise by some officiate on the matter. You have a havit of misconstruing words.

By that logic, you don't agree that the words Newb and Noob exist at all, since they never have been official AFAIK.
