Stealthy Space Ship
Stealthy Space Ship
SSS! WHOO!
Anyway. Here's a nice little site.
http://www.projectrho.com/rocket/rocket3w.html
I'M HAVING A FREAKING HEART ATTACK HERE
I love science fiction. Sci-fi and Fantasy are the two best things anyone can come up with because it allows the creator to do practically anything they want with their universe.
So, I thought, let's turn it into a game.
If anyone can come up with a way for a space ship to be stealthy in space, I'll come up with a reason why that wouldn't work. Then we keep going until someone gets something I can't undo, or everyone gives up then I'll find something else impossible in Sci-fi or Fantasy or movies in general.
And no, the name Stealthy Space Ship won't change. Ever. It's funny.

Re: Stealthy Space Ship
reverse partical colision on the outer hull of the ship, then speed up partical colision on the inside, creating unknown effects that will probably end up with people in miniscule pieces floating around in space...
Re: Stealthy Space Ship
Well the problem with that is obvious.

Re: Stealthy Space Ship
Space combat I dont think will have fool proof stealth system, try as the human might, I think it comes down to Sabotage and Old school navy tactics if you want to win a battle, NUMBERS, RISK, & WITS.
Stealth in that kinda warfair is likly gonna be espionage amoung crew: disabling sheilds, stealing tech and property, or other assasination of a captan.
War in large scale battle in space will go back to out flanking, and making tough calls and hard choices on the Men and the ship. We also have stuff to jam and detour targeting systems on Missles, and patriot missles to eliminate Both Dumbfire and automatic missles.
Differance is that we are dealing with more than a plane of the sea, its not just the XY Plane.
we will also have to deal with an X Plane, meaning we will have to keep guard on whats below and above the ship for things other than submarines.
Also, you got to wonder, whatever we may be fighting out in space, WHAT are they using to detect you, are they using Sona radar like us? or can they detect brain wave signals or Spiritual signatures? Are there space ships Built or growen? Can we smell in outer space (that one may be awnserd quickly by NASA)?
There are other Technoligys out there, and Knowing how much the NZ Ari force Tweeks there Equiptment, all stealth systems will probobly be renderd usless in time.
No Invertin, I cannot segest a fool proof idea.
If I I took time to learn about the subject, I wouldn't tell you anyway... U might just take my idea and Run without giving me the creidit

I hope by sona you didn't mean sonar since sound doesn't travel in vacuums, I sort of doubt we could smell in space since we would die without space suits and the lack of gases would mean a difficulty in transporting the molecules needed to stimulate our noses. (lol) but than again this would be science fiction so I suppose it doesn't really matter and I'm just being an uptight weirdo.

Count Roland, you are a Genius!
Re: Stealthy Space Ship
There are those dohickeys that can sense heat or a lack of heat. So that'd be the first thing.
The only way heat sensors could be avoided would be flying near a sun or a very hot planet. And that'd raise even more problems.

Heat, ok... use exturnal coolant systems/ Heating systems that alter the heat signatures?
(Im probobly talking out my ass here)

Re: Stealthy Space Ship
Yeah pretty much. XD
Nice try though.
Something easier than a stealthy space ship...
Okay how about lasers? Why do lasers move the way they do in the movies?

Re: Stealthy Space Ship
Because the people who made them played too many space shooter games. Either that, or they misjudged the speed of light by quite a huge amount.
It kinda makes you wonder if it's possible to have purely energy-based weaponry that doesn't travel almost instantaneously.

Re: Stealthy Space Ship
I'll tell you why Invertin, its hollywood!
How ever, i can see some uses for lazers in modern warfair.
They are presise. A trooper armed with a heavy lazer could probobly take out a tank before it spotted him in the shrubs/hidden around the corner/entrenched. Lazers could also be used to take out Astaroids or missles. Heck Im sure you could put them on a fighter to get rid of SAM missles.
You could also use them as a presise weapon if you were wanting to assasinate some one.
How ever, I think some reflective things may Redirect the lazer, or maybe just weaken it enough to become harmless light. They would require sertan condison's or maybe be renderd useless.
if people made lazers cheep enough, they could become a millitary armorment. (remeber, a GI's life aint worth more than $250.00 (A joke about the Trojan armor (bullet proff sute) project being a waste) so no high tech stuff for him!)

Re: Stealthy Space Ship
Problem with lasers is that they're glowy. Glowy isn't stealthy.
They are very precise though, I can see that.

Tell me that the next time your in the bush, and suddenly you see a red spot over your heart.
Happend to me once here in the states. Slipped down a steep, I had to then take the long way home, it involved cutting cross a farmers land. The guy never met me before but knew my family.
If I had been some one else, I would probobly not be talking to you right now.

Put water in a bucket and swing it around with your arm.
We use to do that as kids. A Theroy based of that I read in a 1990 Encyclopedia tells me that if large "Arcologys" were made for space, they would have a spinning motion on an Axis to create gravity. I'll see if I can find a picture of what your trying to Imagion.
Ok... Heres a couple Picture from wiki of what I looks similar to what the Encyclopedia discribed from the Inside.

Acording to wiki they are called O'Neill cylinders.

Imagion living In one of those?
