is this going to be a side-scroller or a top-down game?
and what's the news on graphics?
Side-scroller.

the other day I was making a 24000 x 100 picture O_O
and photoshop crashed when I saved (to no surprise).

I'm hoping some of my friends in the Rebel Games group can help me out *looks at blorx*

you don't have to do photoshop, just any 2D pics, especially a Lugaru character.

Ehhh...I'm phail at that too. I'm focusing on programming because well...I'm artistically challenged.
xD

Lotus Wolf might be able to help there though, and as soon as I figure out how XNA handles menus (I'm not sure how to make sure it runs before the game itself) and find an efficient way to do more than one level (separate files for each, one big file, etc) then I can get started with the programming...but I can't do real graphics, period. Atari is about the extent of my sprite-making abilities.

no facebook, but i'll support you from here. a character you say, i wont have to animate it, right? i could, but its a pain. i'll start working on a rabbit anthropoid image, you can tell me if i should animate it or not.

There are a few animation programs that allow you to specify joints and bones on a 2D image and go from there. I MIGHT be able to find one and do that, but for now I've got a personal coding project I'm doing. The sprites are incredibly basic but it's like my "I can do it" game.

Yeah, if I find one, are you going to want the link?

Lotus Wolf: It will be nice if you can get some images, you can animate them if you feel like it, no pressure.

Blorx: Of course I'll take the link, I always take the chance to check out software.

One of the more prominent ones is ToonBoom Animate
http://www.toonboom.com/products/animate/features.php
It costs but it's there...you can use joints, keyframing, substituting drawings, etc.
Also, knowing ToonBoom, there SHOULD be a Personal Learning Edition, which is basically an unlimited trial.
I don't think it's totally meant for animations the way we're doing it, but it should allow for it.

There was another one I saw a while back but have since not been able to find it. It stuck out because it had a really cool system of drawing bones and joints out on the 2D image for animation. I'm pretty sure it was free but I could be mistaken.

EDIT:
I still say I can't draw...
Turner Sketch
Unless you want crayon graphics, I'm not the one for this.
xD

at least you have a good basic figure in that pic, just needs some touch up and detail.

Yeah, but I'm not all that great at touch up and detail.
Not to mention, it would be hilarious to see a Lugaru: Crayon Edition
xD
