Well, I've been sick for a week, had a few tests to study for, bombed 'em anyway since I was absent for a week. I was neck deep in makeup work for a while, But I'm back and I finally had time to squeeze in some writing.

351 views ain't bad. And AIN'T IS A WORD NOW Ya hear!?

Isaac tried to think of how he would explain this as they approached the gates. Tribly seemed unconcerned, and Athe strode with an air of confidence. The sun sank low in the western sky, along with Isaac’s hopes when he glanced up and sensei Tobias on rampart. The gray-whiskered rabbit was more than displeased, and his spectacles rested slightly ajar, adding to the effect. Isaac bit his lip. This wouldn’t end well.

“Open the gates.” Isaac heard Tobias call down. The gates slowly creaked open. Isaac gulped. Athe strode ahead, thankfully intercepting Tobias before a barrage of scolding descended upon them.

“Dimitri sends his regards.” Athe greeted. So that was the old fox’s name, Dimitri.

Tobias chuckled, “That one-eyed excuse for a bladeslinger is still alive? Welcome Athe, and feel free to stay the night. ”

“He’s no excuse sir.” Athe returned, “ Still can nail the heart of a highwayman on a dark night. In fact, he almost made the little brown one look like a porcupine.”

“Isaac.” Isaac said, just realizing now he hadn’t introduced himself to Athe. Tobias lowered his spectacles and focused a glare on Isaac that would make a wolf cower. Isaac slunk away, and tried not to listen; still, he couldn’t help but hear scattered words of the conversation. Most he couldn’t make out, since they had lowered their voices to nearly a whisper, but Isaac could’ve sworn he caught something either really bad or really good in Tobias’s voice. That was it. Tobias rubbed his eyes thoughtfully, then turned and strode over to Isaac and Tribly. Isaac couldn’t help but glance down, and Tribly seemed to have an idiotic grin plastered to his face.

Tobias towered over the two. His soft voice didn‘t hide the menace in it, “You two. Why do I feel a feeling of familiarity here? Tell me, is it because of a strange coincidence, or because I’ve had to lecture you two countless times before?”

“The second one.” Isaac replied meekly.

“And, tell me, do you have any new excuses, explanations, or tall tales that I haven’t heard before?”

“No.”

“Then you should know that I quite frankly do not have any new material regarding this scolding.”

Tribly let out a sigh of relief.

Tobias silenced Tribly with a sharp glance, “Except for the fact that two search parties were dispatched to find you, one of our only watertight buckets has been shattered, other more capable apprentices have had to do your chores for the day, and all while you two were out adventuring. If it wasn’t for the kind help of this fox, you two wouldn’t have found a way back. In fact, I doubt you two can find your own ears in the morning, let alone through a forest. One day you two will have to take some responsibility. I doubt that you will be up to the task, considering the other many instances similar to this one. Maybe if I start cutting ears off you two will listen. We don’t get as much as a signal fire! I swear I will teach you two something before you leave. If it’s even so simple as finding your own tail. Never have I ever had two subjects as incompetent as you two. And Tribly! Your first day of nineteenth season training. What message do you suppose that sends? Hm? I swear you two will be doing chores until your paws fall off.”

Isaac’s ears drooped, and Tribly’s grin had long since faded. Tobias paused, drawing in a much needed breath, “ That said. You two will be off to your bunks until further notice, and Isaac, let me see the curious sword that you found.”

Isaac handed over the blade. Tobias carefully inspected the blade, and then unwrapped the cloth surrounding the hilt. He raised his spectacles and peered at the metal underneath. Tobias’s eyes widened, “Marvelous. “ He muttered then quickly glanced at Isaac and Tribly, “ To your bunks. Both of you. I’ll hear the rest of this tomorrow.”

Bleh. Shorter than most. Just trying to get back into teh groove.

A crescent moon hung softly in the sky. The rabbit Tobias barely glanced at it. Clad in his night robes, he hurried across one of the many courtyards. The sword he concealed under his robes. The other dojo officials could be spotted briskly moving toward the meeting hall also, for this was a grave manner. Tobias stepped inside, stepping through the gathering towards a raised platform at the end of the hall. Sensei Matthias sat on the edge of the platform, collecting his thoughts.
“Hello friend.” Tobias greeted, carrying more in his voice.
Matthias nodded, an old spark kindled in his eye, “ I doubt this is another foraging meeting. Tell me, why do you feel the need to disturb a score of innocent creature’s sleep.”
Sensei Tobias drew the sword out from his robes. The blade glittered faintly in the candlelight. Matthias nodded slightly, a slight smile forming on his lips.
“You do know what this means?” Tobias said hurriedly, “ We’ll have to let everyone know. Even I doubted we’d see this sword before we passed on. Preparations must be made. Provisions will have to be-”
Matthias silently cut him off, “Lets not start a panic friend, we have more time that we think. We shall let it be known that the blade has been found, and let the group decide a course of action. Who found the sword?”
Tobias gulped, “ Isaac, and his friend Tribly. You see, I’d rather not bring it up now. I fear the matter would cause panic. As the scripture says, a great warrior will uncover the sword. Those two are hardly the warriors. The dojo would be deserted in a matter of moments. I doubt-”
“Enough. Tobias.” Mathias intervened, then added with a chuckle, “ You doubt to much. I remember you were always the one trying to keep me from jumping over that thorn patch.”
“More like filling your thick head with better ideas.” Tobias shot back, “ Any shorter of a jump and I would’ve been carrying back a hedgehog with oversized ears.”
“Maybe those spectacles are a bit foggy my friend, but I remember clearing that patch with spear engths to spare.”
“And maybe you took too hard of a knock on the head when you smacked into that tree branch, because I remember having to pluck out some thorns from your tail.”
“Oi!” A voice called out from the back of the meetinghouse, “ are we here for a midnight cup of tea? Let’s get on with it.”
Matthias stood up and whispered to Tobias, “We shall let it be known. Hand me the blade.”

The ability to be able to read everything in one chunk does sound appealing, but I don't think the fans could stand the suspense of waiting till it's complete... =E

MaikMoar™, anyway.

I reread through that recently and wondered what on earth I was on when I planned the story. Probably because I'm so much more realism obsessed now.

This fanfic looks really good. There are alot of Lugaru fanfics, but I guess this is the first Overgrowth fanfic.

Yeah, finals killed my writing spree, however writing DID occur today. All I have to do is read the Grapes of Wrath by morning.

………………………..

“You mean to tell us Isaac found the sword?” Morver, a round-bellied rabbit, blurted out, “ Out of all the capable young warriors here Isaac found the sword? Isaac, the little brown one that takes off like a bloody sparrow and the drop of a pin?”
“Yes.” Matthias replied calmly, “His friend Tribly might have also, but we won’t know until morning.”
Suddenly, The room fell quiet, Tobias took the floor, “ Now, according to the prophecy, the one who finds the sword will emerge a sword master, fearless.”
Someone chuckled.
“This is no laughing matter!” Tobias shattered the creatures sense of humor, “ The script also states why: wolves.”
The word caused unrest among the crowd.
“ What herbs are ye chewin’ on!? There haven’t been any wolves around here for solstices.”
“ Wolves? Maybe we should start moving south then.”
“To the cats? Death by wolves would be far better than those whiskered brutes.”
Morver shouted above the rest, “ A fluke! I say we take the sword back to the place where it was found! Then a real warrior would uncover it.”
“Yeah!” Someone agreed.
“Be that as it may.” Matthias softly replied, however, his voice carried all the same, “ Warriors emerge from the oddest of places.”
“I know where he comes from: here. And I know how fast he can run too. I’d bet my two own ears he couldn’t hold his ground if he dueled a flea.” Morver retorted.
“Sir.” Athe had slipped into the meetinghouse from the back. Some rabbits were a little unnerved, however, many wiser ones turned to listen, “ It might interest you to know Isaac survived a duel with my father, Dimitri the bladeslinger, with only a sword in hand.”
Morver hesitated then spat coldly, “ You’re out of place here, fox.” He turned to the crowd, “ I find it hard to believe the truth obviously lies in front of you, and you choose to blindly follow some prophecy. I‘m sure the Master will realize this happening for what it is.”
Matthias cut in, “Peace, Morver. This young vixen has graced us with potentially valuable information. Since we are unable to come to a conclusion here, I suggest we take Morver’s advice, let Isaac meet the master. Tomorrow.”
Defeated, Morver cursed himself for falling into such a verbal trap.

The dawn warmed the horizon. Streams of sunlight sifted through the wall into Isaac’s room. Isaac lazily opened one eye. It had been so long before he awoke at the dawn. Usually he the nightmare jerked him from sleep, or he had exhausted himself from the day’s work and gazed upon the sun a quarter past its journey in the sky. Isaac pulled himself up out of the depths of sleep and stepped outside clad in his jeans. However, when he arrived at his first chore for the day, he was redirected to the cafeteria. They said he was needed there. Isaac didn’t expect Tribly waiting there. Something was wrong. For once in his life Tribly wasn’t smiling.

Tribly was serious, “They say you have to meet the Master today.”

Okay, I'll have an update coming soon. In the next day or so hopefully. Sorry to keep you guys waiting. School finals just killed my schedule. I also want to ask: what do you think about this fan fic? How does me writing on a little-known gaming website please YOU! I also want some honest feedback on my writing so I can improve. Remember: constructive, not over-critical.

Regardless of what you think, I'll continue, so don't get your hopes up.

(OMG triple post! Call the wolfire police.)
Writing occurred today! More is on the way. Slow and steady wins the race, until your fans get mad and force you to write at gunpoint, in this case, it's 12 guage point.
Yes, I know it risks sounding maxtrix-y at the end, but it was the only thing that felt write. (Pun intended, for those of you that are a little slow on the uptake.)
More will come.

....................................
11.
Isaac’s ears shot up in a puzzled expression. The rules were strictly adhered to, Sensei Tobias made sure of that, but only a rare exception could meet the Master early. Isaac swallowed.
“It’s this way.” Tribly said hesitantly, “and I’m not too keen about you going in there , early or not. I mean, I can’t tell you anything about it, but it’s not that I think you can’t handle it with everything going on, It’s just that-. ”

Isaac tried to lighten the mood a little. “Why are you so worried? I’ve put up with you for long enough. What could be worse than that? Besides, early is good right? I’ll have to in a few days anyway. Come on, Tribly, you’re supposed to be showing me the way.”

“Right” Tribly led Isaac through a door that was usually locked. Isaac gaped at the scene. Flowers, of all colors and shapes bloomed beautify inside this spacious hidden courtyard. Every smell seemed to blend together into a tranquil scent, and a faint path lead up a simple door. Sensei Tobias and Matthias stood patiently beside it.

Isaac couldn’t help but be taken up by the aroma, “Who plants these?”

Tribly gulped, “The Master.”

For a second Isaac wondered just how much he should be worried. Suddenly, Morver bust from the should-be-locked door behind them he ran up to the two senseis, pushing Isaac down to the ground as he did so. “I’m telling you! I’ve put in my share of seasons here and my opinion should be heard! The lad’s not old enough to play with a sword. This is not necessary.”
Matthias ever-calmly replied, “Your opinion is valued, however-“

Morver busted with rage,” Don’t ‘however’ me, old fool. I’ve had enough of being treated like I’ve just been taken out of the nursery! Now send those two back!”

“Morver, I realize your concern, but we ruled on this yesterday.” Mathias said, unstartled.

In his rage, Morver rushed. The heavy rabbit threw himself at Old Mathias. It seemed that the old, robe-clad sensei didn’t stand a chance, but that was only until Mathias grasped Morver’s leading wrist and guided him, face first, into a nearby wall. Morver collapsed.

Isaac pulled himself up and stuttered, “M-m-maybe Morver is right, and I shouldn’t meet the master.” Tribly silently nodded in agreement.

“Ah,” Sensei Tobias winked, “but Morver hasn’t yet met the master now, has he? Let’s get this round unconscious snackball of a rabbit out of here. What do you say old friend? ”
Isaac chuckled; he’d never heard Sensei Tobias speak like that before.

“Sounds like a plan.” Matthias ran a paw over his brow. The action must have taken more energy than Isaac first realized. The two Old friends picked up the unconscious Morver by the shoulders and started to carry him out.

“Isaac.” Matthias said, “This is where we leave you. The door has been revealed, now you must step through. Be strong.”
