Damn virus!

I recently got a virus. I'm not able to use any programs. (I'm on a different computer) Whenever I open a program, it either crashes, or it won't open. I can't even restore it. No virus scanners will open. Any suggestions?

Um.
How did you get onto the internet?
I've never heard of any virus that does this, I have no idea. Does it come up with an error or do all programs just automatically close or stop?

I've also got a virus, lucky for me it's not as bad, it managed to send virus messages to my friends on facebook. It's not gone but it's stopped, it can't do anything

They just close, and sometimes I get the blue screen of death, as my brother calls it. It's really annoying, since I have to go to the library to do homework.

If you can't boot up your computer or run any programs, you may just be out of luck.

I think that avast! antivirus
may be able to do a boot scan from a CD, but I'm not sure. I actually doubt it.
The best thing you can do in my opinion is get a Linux Live CD (I recommend Ubuntu), boot it, mount your Windows partition from it and copy over any important data to a thumb drive or whatever. Then install Ubuntu and don't worry about viruses.

Or reinstall Windows. Or both. Whatever you fancy.

Just yesterday, I moved important files to an external drive, then somehow managed to revert it to factory settings. But now I can't use Microsoft Office, and I lost the keys.

AbiWord or OpenOffice.org Writer are good, free alternatives that can do most of what Microsoft Office does.

Thanks! I'll look into them.
