Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
…with guns.

that's lead btw will be fast. the problem with outlawing guns (at least in my part of the US) is that everyone has guns cause we all like hunting, and criminals buy guns illegally, so making guns illegal isn't about to stop any gun crimes. it's just gonna stop subsistence hunters from getting food, and everyone else from saving money or getting their trophies or what have you. banning guns here would probably decrease gun crimes though sure, cause sometimes people crack open gun safes and take the guns and go out and shoot them at people instead of selling them for the thousands of dollars they're worth. but really it's just not worth it to the state because most guns used in crime are bought illegally anyhow not stolen or bought at the local gun store.

I talked to John about this a while ago - apparently John has lived his entire life in the USA but unbelievably has not once been shot!. I know, it's incredible - he must live in a Pope mobile or something.

Yeah, lots of people think they're cowboys, for sure. I grew up in Alaska, too, where guns are everywhere. Deliberate shootings happened occasionally, but the accident rate was through the roof-- or through your dog, truck, kid, friend, arm, leg, hand, foot, coffee table, --I knew of each of these examples first or 2nd hand, btw. Woohoo, beer and guns! ARMED AND HAMMERED!
I think the statistics and juicy news stories make things look extra alarming, though...
Don't know if you've travelled around here, but this is a HUGE country. Way spread out, very populous, big wide cities, etc. I'm too lazy to do a search, but I'd bet by far the biggest driver of our outrageous gun-crime stats is personal-- by people who know each other, uh, professionally, as they say. So gang and/or drug/money related.
It's bad, don't get me wrong, but folks outside the life don't see much of it personally.
Only place I've ever seen some sketchy citizen handling a pistol in public was in Munich. Startled the hell out of me, I have to say... they have some pretty serious gun laws there, no joke.

I'm happily waiting for the day that an overprotective parent takes the words "Console wars" literally.

I think you've got a bit of explaining to do, Uberbeard.
Or should I say...

...GORDON FREEMAN!

God damnit.
Everywhere I go man, people just recognize me.
"Gordon Freeman!"
"Oh god, it's Gordon Freeman!"
"Hey, Gordon, good to see you again!"
The one free man? Not likely, I've been pigeon holed into every rebel faction going. I had to fend off a greenpeace agent with a spork the other day.
I DON'T KNOW YOU PEOPLE. STOP TALKING TO ME, I GOT FIRED FROM BLACK MESA BECAUSE OF YOU JERKS. JEEZ.

A bit south of, a bit north of, and finally in Anchorage for high school.
--so Rabbit Creek, Chugiak, then Sand Lake area.
I still have an elderly aunt and uncle in Houston, next town up the highway from Wasilla, where Sarah Palin was mayor.
(They're life-long Republicans, but when I asked my aunt, "How 'bout that Sarah Palin?", she said, direct quote, "I am so sick of that bitch!"

Made my day.)
Count, why do you ask? Did you grow up there?
