Re: I seek attention
Finding a need to save this thread as it's actually really good, lol.
Yeah Renegayed found Go Radio, not me, I found Burden of a Day, and knew all the other bands.
Anywho I just listened to that Shai Hulud or however you say it and it's incredibly good, just throwing that out there.
My friend just sent me these people too, kind of crazy video but, the music I actually kind of like.
Cancer Bats - Pneumonia Hawk

Enter Shikari is pretty great too, been listening to them as well, I might look for that album next time I get a chance to download it.

A friend just got me addicted to St. Vincent the other day. Pretty epic music.
Check out both versions, they're significantly different.

They're both cool. Can't decide which I like best, though...

I can't either. I love the live version b/c it shows off the guitar in all it's gothic neo-classical beauty but I also like the the album version b/c it's really catchy.

I don't know why, Blorx, but I don't really dig that song. I prefer the live version though, it sounds nicer.
Nerodx, that song is immense. I love Cancer Bats. I especially love the badassness of the music video.
If there's anything cooler than George Pettit from Alexisonfire being a badass lumberjack holding an axe, then I don't know what it is. Also, check out around 1:02/1:03 in that video to see the drummer looking heroic with his pipe-in-his-mouth drumming.
Here's a video from an Irish show called Other Voices that shows different talent from musicians from around the world but generally from Ireland. The singer is Pinky, he's a former choir singer turned acoustic singer-songwriter. He has such a unique singing style. The atmosphere of the song is very ethereal.
*** Pinky - Mysterious Ways: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiVGbwRidDI
The next is a singer-songwriter from England named Scott Matthews. A lot of people compare him to Jeff Buckley, but I don't because I don't like that sort of thing. His choice of words in his lyrics is very interesting. His songs also generally have an odd atmosphere to them. This song is very calming, his voice is so serene.
*** Scott Matthews - Elusive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAcP-HT_wM0
The next is José González. a Swedish-Argentine singer-songwriter that many people probably know for his song "Heartbeats", which was featured on the Sony Bravia advertisement with the thousands of different colour bouncing balls going down a sloping road. However, this video is of him doing a live version of his cover of Kylie Minogue's song "Hand On Your Heart". If there was ever a time when anyone took a song and completely changed the sound and atmosphere of a song, then this is it. It honestly astounds me how he can take lyrics which aren't so special in their original form and make them sound so meaningful and insightful.
*** José González - Hand On Your Heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Bb8P7dfjVw
For comparison's sake, here's Kylie Minogue's original version of the song, which is actually surprisingly catchy for all its 80's synth-pop cheesiness.
*** Kyle Minogue - Hand On Your Heart: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5fzjPDQ1zE
The next is Iron And Wine, the solo acoustic folk project of an American man named Samuel Beam. The song is "Boy With A Coin". The main guitar riff of this song is remarkable in its ability to never become tiresome, it simply sticks in my mind for some strange reason. The clapping track that goes through the whole song also works magnificently, makes the song very catchy. The music video is also very watchable as it features a dance routine by a group of women which is strangely and hypnotically beautiful.
*** Iron And Wine - Boy With A Coin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLNyVLbqdEg
The next is Justin Nozuka. The song is "Save Him". I don't know what to say about this song, it's one of the two most genuinely heartbreaking songs I've ever heard, the other being "Heart Attack In A Layby" by Porcupine Tree. If you listen to the lyrics of the song in their entirety and watch the emotion Justin Nozuka sings it with, especially towards the end when he seems like he's about to burst into tears, it's hard to not feel some sort of strong emotion. At least for me. Here's the live acoustic from SXSW.
*** Justin Nozuka - Save Him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6s65eMKi1E
Since I mentioned it, it would be silly not to show it. The band is Porcupine Tree and the song is "Heart Attack In A Layby". The song is about a man who has had a fight with his wife and left for a drive, presumably to clear his head. He's driving home to apologise and make up for it, but he pulls into the layby on a road because he's not feeling too well, not realising he's having a heart attack and that he's dying. The ending line of "We'll grow old together" is at times a little unbearable.
*** Porcupine Tree - Heart Attack In A Layby: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5K5Wmv1_sM
The next is Joshua Radin. He's an American acoustic singer-songwriter whose songs have been popularised through their featuring on shows like Scrubs, which is due to his friendship with Zach Braff, who also directed his first music video. The song is "Today". It features guest vocals from the beautiful Priscilla Ahn. There's not much more to say about this song other than it's a nice song sung by two people with really beautiful voices.
*** Joshua Radin - Today: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIFknUShX_k
May as well show Priscilla Ahn. I'm really smitten with this girl for some reason. I could stare at her for days, I find her that beautiful. That's a bit irrelevant to her musical abilities. Luckily, she's a very talented singer and guitarist. She has a serenely beautiful voice. It's not very powerful, but powerful isn't the style of singing she aims for anyway, so that's okay. She makes nice songs. They're not ridiculously complex, they're just genuinely nice.
*** Priscilla Ahn - Are We Different: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ap3nGUSFrXc
I hope you have as much fun listening to these songs as I had telling you about them. =]

Re: I seek attention
I really liked a lot of these songs, the Pinky one I just couldn't get into though. Scott Matthews song was very nice, kinda cheered me up in a way. The Jose Gonzalas one was even better, loved the main riff in it. The original version, not so much though, lol. Boy with a Coin was one of my favorites, really catchy, interesting lyrics as well. Save Him almost made me cry, it was simply beautiful. Porcupine tree's song made me sad as well, but after hearing Save Him, it just couldn't compare. Josua Raddin sounded pretty good, but I liked Priscilla Ahn more than him.
I'm not as good at finding acoustic songs, here's one by Rise Against who are very popular here in America, not sure about other countries. Not exactly a very indie band for others to just get into, but it's one of my favorite acoustics. I have a soft spot for anti-war songs, and this one seems beautiful to me. The video just came out two days ago, didn't even know until now.

I like Rise Against for their heavier stuff like Prayer Of The Refugee, Ready To Fall and I Give It All, but not really for their lighter stuff. I think heavy suits them best, especially the vocalist. I don't think he works well with acoustic songs.
Wow. Really don't know how I failed to mention Agraceful. One of my current personal favourites. It is former Emarosa vocalist Chris Roetter's new project. Savage post-hardcore band. They formed as a dissolution of several other bands (two of the members are former members of the now defunct Here I Come Falling).
*** Agraceful - A Prophecy In Reverie
*** Agraceful - The Great I Am
Might as well show the old version of Emarosa that Chris Roetter was a part of, which some diehard Emarosa fans still consider to be far greater than the new Emarosa, and thus scorn Jonny Craig...one reviewer went as far as to say that the new Emarosa is like the band fading into the background so everyone can focus on Jonny Craig's voice...this is what they used to be...
*** Emarosa - Casablanca
...and Here I Come Falling too...
*** Here I Come Falling - The Beast From The East

I find it necessary to resurrect this thread to ask this question: Is that really you?Renegade_Turner wrote:I'm going to have to disappoint you on that note, guys. I haven't quite finished my whole solution for mortality.
As for Zhukov asking why I post in a different colour, I like the colour purple. My font on Windows Live Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger are the same as on here. My favourite t-shirt is purple.

New mayday parade CD seriously SUCKS. They're nothing without Jason Lancaster. Welp, that's it for now.

Re: I seek attention
Damn, it's so weird how much my music taste's have changed since a few months ago. I can't STAND electro hardcore like I See Stars or Attack Attack anymore. I HATE them. Odd. I guess it's just because I know how easy it is to write music like that.
