I don't want to discuss this in the blog, so I made a thread. Feel free to post your epic videos here.

The actual reason? As Zhukov said:
After watching the videos linked by others, it is apparent that 'epic' is rather subjective.

Correction. Epic is extremely subjective.
It is, and I want to disagree. :D

I love that you guys are opting for stylized "epic" fighting instead of something more realistic! Fake Hollywood fights are always a lot more exciting. I simply adore any Matrix-esque fights.

Here's one I really like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HDrQf0ujnz0

This one is a lot more gun-focused, but it still does a good job of having an "epic" feel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tINWl0gzQWI

Many, many animes have awesome epic fight scenes. They very rarely have -just- melee combat and often use magic and whatnot, but there's still a lot of material to use. Here's one neat anime fight scene with (sort of) hand-to-hand combat: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPMDyYOkLVU

The God of War series pretty much defines "epic". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVAmdhtxEpY
The anime fight (Rock Lee vs Gaara, from Naruto) wasn't epic. IF it was epic, I don't believe it's the actual FIGHT that is epic, but rather the power-levels revealed. That could be quite impressive indeed, but the actual fight wasn't even that exciting.

Feel free to post a different example.

The animes Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo (by Shinichirō Watanabe) have some really good fight scenes.

Which one is the Cowboy Bepop video? I've only seen few episodes, and don't want to spoil(er) the experience by peeking at the future.

sweet fight you guys overlooked. It has everything. Honer, dishoner, Raiden with wolverine claws, mid-fight monologue....

Some people can jump insanely high ;O

That was impressive, surely, but it was just showing off. Epic isn't just showing off, it's looking good while doing something else. Seeing a person like that in real life would be great, and seeing someone do one of those jumps or tricks in everyday life, seemingly nonchalant - that could be epic.
Or, the person could be epic, but the video isn't.
