Star Wars: The Old Republic, Deceived Trailer
Wow.
That's probably the only MMO I'm willing to pay for. I'm totally a SW fanatic! Really looking forward to that game! Can't wait!

I'm really not sure about the whole thing. The Old Republic games so far were AMAZING, but I'm not entirely sure I want the franchise to go MMO. Not into MMO's, they take too much time. But Knights of the Old Republic was one of my favorite games, definitely my favorite RPG, and actually had a really good story in my opinion. Oh well, maybe they'll keep making actual games as well.

ZOMGoggles. I don't play MMORPG's but I will play this one simply because Bioware are making it and it's a KOTOR-based game.
Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic, Deceived Trailer
I'm not sure how I feel about the game, but I sure love the trailer! Probably one of the most intense fight scenes I've ever seen in a trailer.
Cool, but...
Great trailer!
...
Unfortunately, watching it just reminds me of the equally great Blizzard trailers that make WoW look thrilling and exciting. No amount of nifty pre-release cinematic antics can make me enjoy level grinding or the cat-herding of petty mmorpg guild politics.
"Go forth mighty jedi and fetch me 20 stormtrooper dog-tags! Each has a drop chance of 0.5%. Enjoy!"
Various comments:
- Bioware, huh? There is hope!
- Tiresome and generic badassery. In spades. There is no hope.
- It's like 300 all over again. With lightsabers. And clothes.
- No matter how advanced technology becomes, people will still resort to kicking.
- Babe-Fett! She can collect my bounty any day. She redeems this trailer.
- The alpha-sith looks like a Quake Strogg who got off at the wrong bus stop.
Anyone else find the Star Wars setting utterly uncompelling?

Yeah, it's an awesome trailer/ fight scene. I guess I'm a Star Wars addict, so I'll be playing it. I think it's cool that it'll have 3rd person fast-paced fighting along with character and story development. But I've actually never played a MMO before, lol. I did play KotOR, it'll be fun to see something a little less on the statistical side of rping and more action based.

I thought Revan and Malek were dead?
Plus I just love using the forks.
Let's hope it doesn't degenerate to that. Even if it does I'll still probably play it for a couple of hundred hours like I did for KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2.Zhukov wrote:"Go forth mighty jedi and fetch me 20 stormtrooper dog-tags! Each has a drop chance of 0.5%. Enjoy!
In terms of videogames, I find it's quite the opposite. I love me some lightsaber. I've never even watched a full one of the films, aside from when I saw Episode One in the cinema. I find that it's fantastic material for video games.Zhukov wrote:Anyone else find the Star Wars setting utterly uncompelling?

1. You quoted me in a completely different colour.Jimmy Jazz wrote:HEATHEN! TO CLEANSE YOU'RE SELF YOU MUST GO WATCH EPISODES 4 - 6!!!!!Renegade_Turner wrote:I've never even watched a full one of the films
2. No, I will not. The effects are terrible, regardless of how cutting edge they were at the time.

I'm surrounded by these heathen's... the new ones suck, besides old movies rule.
doesn't any one else here like the old ones better?
Plus, the old movie effect thing is like saying you wont play the original Mario because its graphics suck.

No, it's not. Playing a game is different to watching a film. This is why cards will never go out of fashion, the graphics don't change. lolz.
Come on, playing Mario and stuff is pure fun because it doesn't have to be graphically realistic. However, the effects in a film are supposed to wow you, and since Star Wars is a film that relies so heavily on special effects for its appeal, it loses its appeal since the effects and cinematography are so outdated.
Seriously, it's very silly to compare playing Mario to watching Star Wars.
Also, a phrase like "old movies rule" is a far too objective statement for a matter which is completely subjective.
