No, it's scientific. The reason the Big Band theory is considered our best scientific guess is that from what we can observe from Earth the universe seems to be expanding radially outwards, so we extrapolate back and deduce that the universe came about as the result of an explosive event.

One little quirk to this is that the from what we also can tell, the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate, which is the exact opposite of what its "supposed" to be doing as it should be slowing down because of gravity (this is where the theory of Dark Energy comes from, but thats neither here nor there).

This could mean that the Big Bang may have been a little smaller or something else entirely. However, while it is possible that the big bang may be entirely wrong, it's currently the most well supported model that we have.

The best explanation we have for the creation of the universe is a big "BOOM"?

I think the Flying Spaghetti Monster theory makes much more sense Image

I'd sure love you to find a website or anything with this exact law. I looked and couldn't find anything.
Do you not find that a tad hypocritical? Considering you yourself said the following...
TheBigCheese wrote:I think the law itself is more of a proverb/philosophical saying from 1000's of years ago. Though I can't really say since I can't find it stated specifically anywhere.
Hypocritical? My first post was literally saying that it was just a guess that it was philosophical because I couldn't find anything scientific online to back it up.

My second post then said that if he could find some kind of scientific website stating it as an actual law, I would be more inclined to take it as directly scientific, because I couldn't find anything. Both posts said basically the same thing.
Maybe you were genuinely asking him to find you a page with it as it would be interesting to you, but I think the chance of that being the case is about 0.0001%. You sounded as if you were being satiristically disbelieving of him and thought he was making it up.
No really, I was asking him to find a page. Usually if you google something similar to the law it'll bring up the guy who thought it up.

ex: Google "equation chances of intelligent life" will bring up the Drake equation.

The problem with "Everything has been created at one point" is that it's so general that everything that came up was pages on God vs. Atheism, but nothing on an actual scientific law. Also the generality of it in general leads me to believe it's more of a saying than a law.

It's not like the universe was created by a giant explosion, but the explosion was a result of the creation event. As for what actually caused the Big Bang, even world's top astrophysicists can only speculate.

Haha, awesome. Although I think the Flying Spaghetti Monster put the Moon a little too close.

The perspective is like, you're on the edge of the moon and staring *down* at Earth, so a little bit of the moon's surface is visible. Kind of at like a 20 degree angle or so.

If we assume the FSM is behind Earth, it's bigger than a planet o;

Ok, but at that distance the moon would fill up the night sky, and every time it passed overhead its gravity would cause the surface of the Earth to shift, making for daily earthquakes.

This is a bit more realistic (as it's a shot from one of the Apollo landings)

Well, maybe it's taken from a warped perspective where the edges are bigger =P

'Fraid not. The curvatures of each body are still completely circular, so no warping going on there.

However, it is entirely possible that the FSM caused the Big Bang and stopped by Earth a few billion years later to fix the moon. (and that way everybody wins!)

Yay, a ridiculous compromise!

We're sad for having nothing better to do.

I once said this to a kid who was talking trash to me about being a atheist. He punched me. I punched him back. I know it was childish but its hard to not lose your temper with someone he is a fanatic catholic, and says " I don't like Confusius 'cause he's asian" and " We should just nuke all those muslims in Iraq."

W-T-F-I-H-P!!

(what the fuck is his problem)

I think being nice to everyone is much easier said than done. I'm nice to everyone who makes a conscious effort to be nice themselves. I'm not going to be nice to someone who's a sneaky asshole. Maybe one could say that makes me cynical. I just think it makes me human. I think that people who are pretending to be nice to people they don't like are irritating. It can lead to more complications. If you think someone likes you while they're really only being fake to you that's not good for anything. Never ends well.

On another note, all hail Ra!
