Ipod advice

Hey guys.
Well, after using some tactics from "how to scrape up 30€?" topic I decided I want to get an Ipod. I´mtired of having to buy batteries for my 1gb mp3 player and deleting old songs to add new ones.
All of my friends recommend Ipod because of capacity, quality, size and so on...
So here are the list of avaliable
Ipod Shufle
Ipod Nano
Ipod Classic
Ipod touch.
At the beginning, I was amazed by the new and cool graphical features that the iPod Touch brought to us, but after thinking about it, I´m not willing to pay that much for it and I´m looking for a mp3 player, not for a cool high tech toy.
The ipod shuffle was never in my mind because that would be the same pain I live at the moment with my 1gb mp3.
Then I though "maybe if I save more I can buy an Ipod classic". Although the idea rocks and its capacity totally matches my idea of a mp3 player with a large free space for a long "no-worries-about-free-disk-space" time, but 120GB is just too much and thus the price is higher.
Now I came to what possibly will be my final choice, the Ipod nano. It is not so expensive, has the basic functions I need, some cool extra features from apple and a medium capacity that should last long.
I just wanted to ask a few things:
-approximately How many songs can I have in an Ipod nano with 4gb?
-Are there ipods with more than 16 gb but not 120gb?
If anyone can give me some advices or recommend me something, I´m all ears.

I have an 8gb ipod nano, it's supposed to be able to hold 2000 songs if theres no video or pictures, so I'm pretty sure that rule applies to the 4gb, except it would only hold 1000. That's still a good amount though.
Also, I know I've seen a 60gb ipod before, I'm pretty sure it was either a classic or video.

Yeah, there's a few models between 16-120GB- I've got an 80 gig, for instance.

hey thank you, now that I think about it, I may use more than 1000 songs (4gb) but 60 gb or 30 are just too much, I thnk I´m going for the 8gb and If i get some help from a friend I may just wait and get a 16gb thank you a lot!!
Edit: where can I get those medium capacity models?
Edit: Well, I think I found the perfect Ipod for me.New ipod nano 8gb, it costs 115,10, almost un-used, comes with a case and the speakers are new.
Thanks for the recommendations

I had a 30GB iPod video for a good 3 years or so before it died on me. 30GB was way more than enough space, my full music collection takes up about 10GB.

I now have one of the new Nanos, black, 8GB. It's a nice size, small, but not too small. Same goes for the capacity. I had to cut out a gig or two of music, but I made sure to cut out only stuff I don't really listen to anymore. Love it so far. Was worried about the battery life at first, but it turned out to be superb. Given, I have it set so that the backlight goes off after two seconds, and I put it on hold and set it on my lap after I've started listening to an album/playlist or whatever.

I also just found out today that if you shake it, it randomly chooses a song. Shuffle. Clever. :3

It's been renamed to "iPod Classic" something generation.

Nope. They had the video, which was similar to the iPod Classic, then they shrank the video, then they discontinued it and replaced it with the classic.
