AVG False Positive

Okay does anyone else know about the AVG iTunes false positive thing? A false positive, as it is known in the computer security world, basically means the anti-virus software detects viruses in files where there are no viruses.
Here is a page detailing the problem: http://www.findmysoft.com/news/AVG-Fals ... ks-iTunes/
Here is a page which proposes a solution to the problem: http://www.geekpolice.net/computer-secu ... t12043.htm
I went through all those steps and it's still telling me it won't work. It keeps saying "iTunes has stopped working... Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..." and then "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly."
Has anyone else had this problem? Or can anyone provide a solution?

Wait, are you sure it's AVG? It looks more like to me it's just crashing. In which case you should just reinstall iTunes.
Also, if turning off AVG and trying doesn't work, then it's probably not the false positive. Does it actually pop up a message from AVG that detects iTunes?

Oh forgive me, I must apologise, I didn't really make that part clear at all.
You see, I fixed all the bother with AVG. I completely deleted all of the iTunes files, disabled the Resident Shield in AVG, added the iTunes as an exception when scanning for viruses, and reenabled the Resident Shield. This fixed the problem for installing iTunes.
However, after that when I tried to run iTunes I get the error message saying that iTunes has stopped working. No matter how many times I completely remove iTunes and reinstall it from scratch, the problem remains?
Does anyone have any tips or solutions? It's really distressing.
Or, failing that, can anyone suggest a Vista-friendly music library program? I'm stuck for one at the moment and it's rather irritating. I've been using Windows Media Player to play music.
However, it's very important I get iTunes to work again at some stage as my iPod will not be capable of deleting or receiving new music files.

It's a bad advise, but I follow it anyway: don't use a virus scanner, just reïnstall your pc every month.

The only thing I can think of would be to completely turn off AVG and reinstall iTunes. It seems like it's a problem with the installation.

Or that.

I think I'll try the turning off AVG and reinstalling bit in lieu of wiping my PC.

You only put in exceptions for the iTunes folder?
I don't have iTunes, but I remembered a blog post writing about that problem(in German though) and checked back. For his solution he also put in exceptions for \$(program files-folder)\iPod and \$(program files-folder)\AppleSoftwareUpdate. You could try that.
I am not exactly sure if he is on Mac or Windows though.

That is a really bad and overall selfish idea. It may be ok for you to have a virus infested PC, but think about all the people that get spam, get attacked by viruses or DDosed from your computer. That attitude is the reason why viruses(and spam) are such a big problem in the first place.

Don't worry, that won't happen. I'm a computer specialist, so I'll probably notice any change in my system/kernel behavior.
And even if I don't notice it, there's no way it will get through my 5 firewalls. ^^
