Now something feels fishy... What do you think? Should I proceed, or have I fallen prey to a scam?

Jeez, I don't think Bill Gates would rip you off. I mean, he's rich already, and he's a great humanitarian and everything...

Although, now that he's not getting those four dollar haircuts anymore, maybe he's a little short on cash.

SCAM! He only gives cash to charities, not randomly to people. Plus the letter doesn't have the "official feel" to it. Look for the banks records. If the bank is legit, then call them up. If it isn't, then dur it's a scam. Ask to personally get the cash, in bills. If they won't, it's almost assuredly a scam.

Or, just ignore it. That's what I would've done. Call him (Gates) up, and ask him whats going on.

What a coincidence, I just got emailed a scam via another forum.

Dear Friend,
In my department I discovered an abandoned huge sum that belongs to one of our late foreign customers, I now decided to make this Business proposal to you and for our office authorities to release the money to you, for more detail send me an email in my private email address ( [email protected] or [email protected] )
Best regards,
Miss. Elizabeth.

I replied:

This should have given it away. Why would Bill Gates put money in a British bank? Even more so, why would a bank's primary email account be a live.com address, let alone an AMERICAN live.com address, where as the bank is British, and not something like [email protected]?

EDIT: Found the actual bank site... http://www.ybonline.co.uk/

Yeah, it's just ordinary scam.
Even bad quality scam... I mean, it's quite obvious that they didn't make much efforts to make it realistic.

try setting up a dummy account with something like £10 in it, then proceed, giving them the details of that account, if it's true £1,000,010, and if it's false, more fool them for getting 10 whole amazing pounds out of you! and you will have scammed the scammers!

but, of course that's just what i think, and im only 15 so...

Scamming scammers is much safer when you're face to face with the scammer. I'm just ignoring it.

On a somewhat unrelated note, did anyone else used to get those spam emails about watches?
I got an amazing one, in which the subject line advertised: "This watch is fictitious!"

I never opened the email, but I thought it was worth keeping, rather than leaving it in the "spam" folder to be deleted.
