I saw it. Last scene fucked me up. That was really creepy. But when your one goes downstairs to the kitchen and starts screaming someone in the cinema shouted "There's no milk!" so the effect wasn't quite as chilling. In fact for most of the film people in the cinema were laughing, particularly when your one starts standing beside the bed and swaying back and forth.

Some of the people in the cinema kind of ruined the effect. It's a good film to watch alone with friends who aren't going to be shouting out silly stuff. The "There's no milk!" comment accompanied by a woman's frantic screaming was quite hilarious though.

I didn't see it yet but I've heard it isn't really that scary when you watch it, but then when your at home and some of the creepy things in the movie caused by the ghosts start happening to you, you pretty much go insane/paranoid/scared to death. That actually sounds like a pretty good effect even if the movie itself isn't that great.

When I saw it (in theaters) there was literally two people in the theater. No one else was there... which was kind of creepy in and of itself. But overall, I didn't find the movie scary, but my friend with me did. I actually thought the sfx that tells you when something is going to happen, ruined it for me. I think for most people it created tension, but for me it made me think of work... Still, that movie has done really well for how little it cost to make it, and is definitely worth seeing.

Yeah actually I found the sound effects in and of themselves a form of tension. I thought the waiting for things to happen was almost as good as the things happening.

Has anyone noticed the message before it starts? It would give the impression that it's a true story... Anyway, watching it now, will edit in my reaction later.

Well, yeah, that's the impression it's supposed to give. Just like The Blair Witch Project. It's a found footage film, it's played up to be real footage pieced together. Kind of the point.

That's how you do it. Just look at Alien, or Jaws, it's about the build up.

Blair Witch isn't as effective as Paranormal Activity, I just found that movie boring. It was a great idea, but as the first of a new breed of camera work and editing it sucked ass.

That is indeed true. However, I was stuck in front of a group of male adolescents who, rather than leaving or shutting the fuck up, decided to voice their opinions on how bad the movie was at every opportunity, which cames in the all-too-witty forms of "This is fucking shit" or "This is boring". This combined with some rather unfunny commentary "He's the devil all along, I knew it." Har har har.

I expect it was because they're utterly braindead, and were coming to the film expecting some kind of random mindless scarefest to sink their teeth into. They should go see films like Resident Evil or Halloween instead. I've no problem with them opting for the intellectually-absent gorey theatre side of things, nothing says that the action-packed films that don't bother with characterisation or any of that malarkey are any worse off. In fact, sometimes I prefer something I don't really have to think about...but coming into a film and complaining about it while others are trying to enjoy it and actually, you know, feel tense, that's another story.

It's hard to feel tense when someone's shouting "THERE'S NO MILK."

"There is no milk"?
And that, after "There is no spoon"...

Now I'm just waiting for "There are no Coco pops" and "There is no bowl"
