Half the kids I know wouldn't be able to keep up with a guy with a mouse.
Hilarity and QQ-ing would occur like none other.

I'm not a big fan of consoles, but why do you think they are retards?
You need to be a PC gamer freak to be cool?
I'm not defending anyone, I just want to understant why the pc gamers do hate the console gamers that much

Actually, it's the other way around. PC gamers don't want to play with console gamers. Console FPSs have aimbots.

See, in a PC FPS, your pointer is going ON a pixel. In a console FPS, it's just NEAR a pixel.

The term "console-tard" isn't of my own making - it's a demeaning term for console players, and fit the context.

Now that that's out of the way, here is my take on the "why" of it:
During the 90s and early 2000s, PC gaming was the powerhouse and had games that could only be done on the PC. With the past couple generations, the consoles have become the mainstay of gaming, and as a result, they focus on that market over the PC market. As a result, the games that PC gamers get all feel like poor ports from a console. This is most noticeable in the game interface for menus, HUDs, and inventory systems - often, the godly mouse is completely ignored, which frustrates the fuck out of us.

As a result we get awkward things like:
Bioshock - instead of having an inventory system like System Shock 2 (Which is what Bioshock is copying), the player can carry/use all the weapons in the game, and eats any food/drink on sight.
Inventory systems in general have been dumbed down since the grid-perfection that was achieved with System Shock 2 and Neverwinter Nights, leaving us with *retches* list format inventories if we're lucky and no inventory system at all otherwise.

Borderlands is a prime example of my next grief, the idiotic menu system. When I'm setting my screen resolution from the default 800x600 to 1920x1080, I expect a drop down menu - NOT a cycling list of all the resolutions between. For added annoyance, they didn't include a way to cycle backwards in the list, so if I go over I have to DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN.

And when I can't even use the mouse to do these things, it is very fucking annoying. The keyboard is for walking, fast weapon selection, and typing - not for fiddling around in menus. The mouse was invented to avoid list-format menus, for fuck's sake.

Ergonomics and carpal tunnel - these issues are very important for PC gamers. Mass Effect 2, making a minigame where you have to scan for minerals is fine - albeit boring - but when you force us to use the mouse and can't use the keyboard arrows, and you make it mandatory to play the game... GRAH. I swear, my advancing carpal tunnel syndrome gained a couple miles of ground on me because of this one thing. I ended up plugging in a spare mouse I had in the garage and taking the ball out so I could manipulate the rollers with a finger, because it was far more comfortable and better for my wrist.

So... it's mostly an interface thing. There's other issues, too, like buttloads of DRM that like to attach to your system files like tentacles.

Thats all his posts are, little 5 word statements.
I laugh at the person who spent the time to even bother doing this.

Hey, for anyone that's interested, you can sign up for the mac beta of steam here, assuming you have an existing steam account: http://store.steampowered.com/macbeta/

Yeah, they probably only pick and choose the ones that they need people to test for with. I'm sure the number of requests are pretty high. likely just randomly choose people.

I just hope with 'april release' they actually meant the full version, not the beta.

From what I remember, they're looking for a wide diversity of hardware. They're also looking at what people have, Mac-wise.

Yeah, most beta sign ups are this way, blizzard's for example is no different. They randomly pick from the ones that match the specs they need, since they only need a handful of testers for each hardware configuration, would be too much data otherwise. It's basically like a lottery and the likelihood that you get chosen is very slim.

However luckily unlike a lottery, you will eventually get the 'prize' no matter what, just need to wait ;)
