I LOVE the demo! It's my type of game. I usually go through sandbox games and ignore the cutscenes, and just do whatever I want. In GTA IV, I just used the cheats to get helicopters, then would spawn motorcycles on top of skyscrapers and jump off.

Just cause 2 is endless entertainment for me. Huge world built for random stunts, and the grapple which is pretty kick ass. Yeah, I like it.

Holy crap... Where the hell did you come from? To put it in the words of Frank Garret, "I thought you died motherfucker!"

Now that that is said..

Yeah, the grapple is very well made, and I don't think I'm going to be paying attention to the story either.

I downloaded the demo and tried to install it before I realized it wasn't compatible with XP. It seems weird that they would make the game unplayable for so many people.

It is kinda inconsiderate, but honestly, how old is XP now? Eight years? I think it's just their way of trying to get people to move on. I find Vista quite tolerable, as long as you have the 64 bit version and turn off all of the retarded bubbly stuff.

Yeah, I see where they're coming from, but that still means that the large number of people who still use it are incapable of playing their game.

Been playing this over the weekend. Found more stuff to whinge about.

The fast-travel feature is f**king annoying.

First off, for purposes of comparison, here's how fast-travel worked in Red Faction: Guerilla, a very similar game:

1- Press button to open map.
2- Click to select destination.
3- Press button to initiate.
4- Confirm.
5- Short loading screen and you're there.

Quick and simple. The confirmation step could have been skipped out, but hey, close enough.

Now here's how fast-travel works in Just Cause 2:

1- Press button to select beacon.
2- Aim at clear patch of ground.
3- Press button to activate beacon.
4- Brief loading screen.
5- Skip short cutscene (if you're fast you can spare your ears from some of the worst voice acting known to humanity).
6- Select "extraction".
7- Click to select destination.
8- Moderate loading screen.
9- Brief loading screen. (Yes, that's right, two loading screens in a row.)
10- Skip short cutscene and you're finally done.

It's utterly ridiculous. Do these people not test their f**king products or something? I mean, someone out there actually got paid to put this convoluted heap of shit together. In fact, it would have been several someones. There must have been well over a dozen people working on this thing and somehow not one of them managed to point out that they were producing a lukewarm turd.

...

I'm in a bad mood. It probably shows.

(Incompetent fools.)

PS. It turns out that Miss Santosi is not the worst voiced character in the game.

Also, keep in mind that if you want to travel to the other side of the map, you really have to double check whether or not you're moving to the right drop-point.

And it could also be annoying to actually locate the drop-points on that map, since you can only zoom out with the camera fixed on your location, and not move the camera around.
That makes the drop-point buttons on the other side VERY small.

vague... Yeah well fuck that, I don't have all day to write a complex analysis of it
Renegade_Turner wrote:And if I wanted that I could just watch a World War 2 documentary.
but you wouldn't because Lost has a lot higher entertainment value than most documentaries (well actually I'd watch Lost and then the documentary as I like history)
I do agree though that it isn't an epic masterwork of any sort, but it is most fun to watch and you never know what the fuck is going to happen and that's exactly what I'm expecting from Lost and thus it is mindless entertainment on the outside but beyond that it is a whole lot more

It's a bit like "the matrix", when I was little I could only understand the words and the pictures, I couldn't see anything else in it. But as I've watched it again recently I found out what a masterpiece it was
you see? Outside it's "boom bang tchakatchaka" but it's far more complex than that

edit: but do not misunderstand me, Lost is in no way on the same level as the matrix however it still entertains and gives you a snack for the brain

Same level? Is Lost higher or lower than the Matrix? You can't really compare them, they are completely different genres. I haven't actually seen Lost, but it doesn't look like a computer program run by giant machines with agents and lots of kung-fu fighting.

Fine, not completely different genres. But they are in no way very similar. One is about people trapped on an island or something, the other is about... well, I already said what it is about and everybody on the planet already knows.

The Matrix was great and did better at pulling off action-packed scientifically pseudo-intellectual fiction than anyone else probably could have. I love The Matrix, I think the fight scenes are choreographed superbly and are timeless in every sense of the word. I don't think I'll ever get tired of watching Neo's fight in the subway station with Agent Smith. Having said that...

I'm sorry, are you projecting a subjective viewpoint as an objective one? This is odd, I was unaware you could tell me what I would or would not do. I'll have to rethink my arguments.

Anyway, there are many documentaries with far more entertainment value. I mean, Bowling For Columbine, there's a documentary that has far more to do with entertainment and controversy than it has to do with actual fact-based analysis. Michael Moore is a big blubbering vagina and I hope he chokes...but it was entertaining. Lost is still a load of tripe.

You just compared yourself when you were younger to me now. I'm 20 years old. Frankly, when I'm watching Lost, I wish I was 5 so I wouldn't get a headache at all the loose threads and plotholes. I asked you to explain to me some of what was the "whole lot more" that you found "beyond" the mindless action sequences and laughable plot, but your response was...

I'm sorry, are we having a debate or are we having a "YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME" hissy fit contest? You're not exactly solidifying your argument here.
