To reply to your first concern.

To turn off auto translate:
Click the wrench and open options.
Open the "under the hood" tab
a couple lines down from the first page is Translate.
Un-check It

You also won't have to worry about changing your languages now either.

Also,

On the new tab page just click the downwards arrow on the upper right and un-ckeck everything

You do know that Chrome is just a bland copy of Internet Explorer.

IE pwns Chrome anywhere, anytime.

Well if you delete enough letters and spaces and move things around enough, you get "Google Chrome is awesome."

Honestly, not that I've really ever seen.
So you are always getting new trial versions of antiviruses?

No. My comp came with a free year of TrendMicro. Before that, I was always on a Mac.

yeah, that randomly happened to me as well yesterday, and all the graphics which should have been on the page turned up in a list rather than a bar across the top, which meant i wasted a lot of time scrolling on each page...anyway, enough pointless waffling!

im afraid i cant offer any help :(

You can change the font-size by following these steps:

Step 1 : Open Options

Step 2 : Open "Change font and language settings"

Step 3 : Choose which font you'd like to change.

Step 4 : Change the size on the right side of the new window that pops up.

However, this may or may not solve your problem.
I've had some random resizing aswell, mostly due to accidental Ctrl-Scrolling.
Ctrl + Scroll will change the size of almost anything on the page and it can be a real pain.

However, using that feature on one page, and later open up another, the other page should not be having the same Zoom options, it should have the default settings.
