Portal for Free! (on Steam)
Portal for Free! (on Steam)
So Steam has as of now released the game "Portal" for free in celebration of their client being released for the Mac.
So what are you waiting for?
Go grab a copy before the 24th of May and salute Steam for it's greatness.
Link: http://store.steampowered.com/freeportal/
Perhaps it would be more convenient to enter the URL directly into the Steam console.
Now enjoy this piece of awesome!

Re: Portal for Free! (on Steam)
I saw. I'll wait a few days for the rush to stop and then I'll get it. I've already beaten it, but it couldn't hurt to play again since I have a new Steam account and no Portal.
Re: Portal for Free! (on Steam)
I downloaded it like an hour ago. The speed still went up to an average of ~600 kB/s.
Took about 10 minutes for a complete download.

Server is too crowded, I'll have to do it in a few days =\
Re: Portal for Free! (on Steam)
Oh, about that, I also had to update the page like two or three times before I got in.

Indeed. However, after finishing it like 2-3 times you know it all by heart, and you can finish it in less than 30 minutes.

You should be fine, Portal is actually not that graphicly-heavy of a game.
It's the gameplay that they want to present. And they do it quite nicely, too.

Also, if by chance you know that your PC can run HL2, it'll run Portal. (same engine/graphics)
You can also download custom levels, I also hear that Portal 2 is coming out soon.

Re: Portal for Free! (on Steam)
They have said that they will release Portal 2 in time for holidays this year.
Remember, however, that they also originally said that they would release "Half-Life 3" in 2009, so don't go add Portal 2 to your Christmas wish-list just yet.

Alright, so accordingly to that schematics, Portal 2 is being release...

... next fall.
I like their actual time for "Shortly", by the way.
