Not that bad, it's a great game, makes you think real hard.

IIRC, only few puzzles were difficult. Mostly they were about coordinating the movement between several portals. The minimum amount of portals challenges were more interesting in that regard, but since they were separate from the actual levels I don't think I ended up doing them all.

Also, if by chance you know that your PC can run HL2, it'll run Portal.

I just used System Requirements Lab to test for HL2. It failed

By the way, Valve has announced their Steam client to be released on Linux aswell, so you might not need to wait for that long.
