You do know the time quote is actually from Bertrand Russell, a British author, right?kehaar wrote:"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread." --Anatole France
Always liked that one.
For all gamers, musicians, drinkers, etc:
"Time you enjoy wasting isn't wasted time." --Beatrix Russell, a character in New Vegas

I hardly see how that matters since it's also said in New Vegas. The meaning of it doesn't change.

Re: Favorite Quote
True it doesn't really but it drives me crazy seeing quotes attributed to the wrong person and that's just one I noticed.
Re: Favorite Quote
I didn't know that, but I'm not surprised. Pretty good quote for a game dev to have memorized, and pretty funny to hear from a cranky Ghoul/Cowgirl/Dominatrix in a game at about hour 7 of playtime & at 3 a.m.Count Roland wrote:You do know the time quote is actually from Bertrand Russell, a British author, right?kehaar wrote:"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal their bread." --Anatole France

And they did name her Beatrix Russell, so that's kind of funny, too. She also says, "Feed a man for free and he'll be back asking for more. Feed a man a bullet? You won't hear from him again." and some other good, grouchy comments when you ask if she has any advice.

That's suspiciously like Terry Pratchett's "Give a man a fire and he’s warm for a day, but set a man on fire and he’s warm for the rest of his life." which itself is a humourous reworking of an old Chinese proverb about teaching a man to fish rather than giving him a fish.

Rudel IC, what's a rough translation of the malformed German one?

Re: Favorite Quote
Well, the REAL one iskehaar wrote:Rudel IC, what's a rough translation of the malformed German one?
"Lieber den Spatz in der Hand als die Taube auf dem Dach."
Translation: "You'd rather have a sparrow in your hand than a dove on your roof."
And that means that it's preferable to be happy with what you have than going for that which you can never get.
The malformed one translates to this:
"You'd rather have a sparrow in a dove than your hand on your roof."
Pretty much means "rather fuck a girl than jerk off". The sparrow being your penis, the dove being her vagina, your hand being your hand and the roof being the tip of your penis.
Great!
Another great German one is this:
"Der Spruch 'Der Klügere gibt nach' begründet die Weltherrschaft der Dummen."
-- Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach
So there's a very popular saying (Der Klügere gibt nach ~› The smarter guy backs down), and it's responsible for the world domination of the stupid (Die Weltherrschaft der Dummen).
