Hey guys, I started taking funny chatroulette screenshots but I keep losing excelent material because I always have to take the screenshot, go to paint, paste it and save it before switching back to chatroulette.
I would like to find a program that saves every screenshot I make.
Oh, and I want to make a video for youtube, can you recommend me a screen recording program

SCREENSHOTS:
Try EasyCapture 1.0, it doesn't save automaticly, but you can take multiple screenshots without it loosing the previous ones. You can choose which images to save when you're done.
VIDEOS:
It is trivial to get the right program for the right Operating System.
For Windows, CamStudio seem to work just fine. And it's free.
For Mac and Linux, well, check this list and try the ones that are Freeware, Shareware and/or Open Source.

VirtualDub is not as much a Screen Capture program or a Video Editing software as much as it is a Video Optimizer or Quality Decompresser or Recompresser.
It might be useful for quick editing, like removing the beginning or ending of a clip.
It is kind of in the same league as Windows Movie Maker when it comes to features, but has much less quality loss.
Personally I would go illegal, but I cannot suggest that.
Instead, using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 tryouts would be a good idea.
Alternatively, I would try one of the following, free, open-source softwares:
[All Platforms] Avidemux -- Similiar to VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod.
[Windows] DVD Flick -- Got a 5/5 review from PCWorld.com.
[Linux] Cinelerra -- The user interface is similiar to that of Premiere Pro. Alot of features.
[Linux] Kino -- Supports many basic video editing and assembling tasks.
[Linux] OpenShot Video Editor -- Easy to manipulate, many features.
[Complete List]

Since you're going for a Linux-based software, I would suggest the two other options instead of Kino. Cinelerra and OpenShot Video Editor can cover alot more advanced features.
