I call Black Shades clone. Even the simple graphics style shown there denounces that. Anyone? Anyyyyyyone?

Nah, Damzel is about squad control and the social elements involved in protecting an npc. Nor is it a first person shooter.
The developer is Phil Carlisle, who wrote the AI posts on the blog (1, 2), whilst he has said that he has taken some inspiration from Black Shades, the article on his site he states the aesthetics are "still under development".

Right, thanks for explaining that.
Just kind of sounded a LOT like Black Shades, and I had totally missed those posts in the blog.

I was half prepared to be all angry with him.

Plus, I doubt the bodyguard in Damzel has psychic powers.

I'd like to see cars and trees in black shades. That would be pretty epic.

Yeah, if there's one thing I love in a game, it's trees.
Re: Jeez, is it clone week or what?
it would add more color and reality to the game <_<
and cars would be more like a second challenge of not getting run over when crossing the street to bash someone's head in. but mostly the point was that it would look cool

Yeah, because we all know reality is what we need more of in video games. Modern realistic FPS games teach us that.

Anyways, scenery is always nice. Cosmetics/aesthetics/graphics/whatever you want to designate them do help immerse you into the game. Can't exactly have much atmosphere with gray blocks and triangular prisms
Not that basic/simple graphics are bad, per se, it's just that eye candy is always nice so long as it doesn't detract from the game itself.

I think it would be rather hard to focus on the game if an attractive woman walks up and flashes you every once in a while. It would turn into a "find the woman in red" quest.Ragdollmaster wrote:... it's just that eye candy is always nice so long as it doesn't detract from the game itself.

I was considering posting this. I just couldn't think of anything clever to go along with it.

I never played Descent 2, but Descent was one of my all time favorite games.
