There's nothing like waking up at 4:30AM to a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. Its was absolutely shocking, being without power for 2 hours in the dark with dozens of aftershocks rocking the house can be a little unsettling...

You can read about the quake in detail here -> http://www.stuff.co.nz/the-press/news/4 ... ristchurch (The first house you see is almost directly across the road from me)

There have been no deaths and only 2 serious injuries.

Wow!

Well, greetings from the San Francisco Bay area. --and from Alaska, too. Hey, it's a way of life on the Pacific Rim, eh?

Lucky that hit in the middle of the night, or a lot of people would have got hurt. Sort of shows you what seismic building code requirements are about, I guess. Glad you're house didn't drop, or burn. Yikes.

I like how the dude goes "...it's incredible, nothing like it." as if he was loving the whole event.

If it wasn't in incredibly poor taste to those who lost homes or loved ones, id probably have to consider running around naked in the streets declaring to everyone "I'VE LOST EVERYTHING! OH THE HUMANITY!"

My weekend was much more exciting- I mowed the lawn. While mowing the lawn I ran over a snake which decided to bite the lawnmower, so I heard this grinding sound and looked over to see the snake's body sticking out the front of the mower with the head hidden inside. Getting it out was not very fun.

...well, okay, that's not exciting at all. I mean, it wasn't even venomous. Anywho, hope you didn't lose everything etc.

Man I feel so lame, all I did this weekend was climb a little mountain, granted I'm still recovering from a foot injury but still not as cool as a large earthquake or running over a snake.

I went to a fancy dress party for my cousin's 30th as The Punisher...and then went to a Harvest Food & Music Festival and ate shellfish paella.

I sent to my Step-father's 60th birthday party, then at midnight, when the party ended, we left to go to his ex-wife's sister's 50th birthday party, we got home at 3:30 a.m., I subsequently fell asleep and lost most of the next day...I didn't get any booze though...Which sucked...
