What you say is true. During split-second decisions that can make the difference between life and death, the human mind is focused only on its primary instinct, survival.
In this scenario, the Blazer (B) drives towards them on Brian's car's left side (A). Seeing the Blazer suddenly coming towards him probably set his mind to instinctively drive in the other direction, leaving his left side wide open.

Excuse my poor Windows 7 Paint skills...

The classic instinct argument. Well it's true we evolved from animals that were obsessed with survival, I am no longer an animal. I don't let instinct tell me what to do. Reflex, on the other hand, is a different story.

I'm sorry, I may have misjudged the "survival instinct" of humans, since it's not absolute.
The human mind is not fixed with survival. Hence, suicides happen.
Though, Brian's first reaction was to avoid the car, so I guess my drawing is still valid.

Instinct is nonexistent in humans because accidental pregnancies don't happen
(Also, a
fucking figure! We're really getting to the bottom of this mystery gang!

Haha yeah well obviously humans are a higher power and clearly don't share the attributes of lesser animals! Instinct? Hah! That's laughable, don't insult me.

Google, define "Reflex" for me...
Google wrote:Reflex: an automatic instinctive unlearned reaction to a stimulus
Hahahahahahaha.

Google definition aside, that's not what I meant. It's like calling something gay, but not meaning homosexual.

No, really then, what DID you mean? This reeks of changing what you meant after you realise it was stupid.

I'm not gay, I just like huge dicks.
I meant reflex, like something you train yourself to do, instead of something that exists due to evolution. Reflex and instinct essential mean the same thing, so it was poor wording on my part. But, I meant I rely on instinct I give myself instead of evolutionary instincts. For example, a seasoned fencer can parry a sword instinctively, but it's not because his ancestors needed to have that exact ability. The fencer taught him/herself and practiced enough to make an instinct.

Using the fencing was a very bad comparison. Yes, a fencer can parry a sword "instinctively" but it isn't really an instinct, you see, fencing is a skill, so a fencer has taught him/herself, through years of practise, to parry a sword so well that it is like an instinct, but it actually isn't, it is an acquired skill. However, if you used something that our ancestors had to do to survive, such as hunting, they will have passed the skills down from generation to generation until it gets to a point where the more simple aspects of it are almost second nature, hence, instinct!

Yeah, you basically said exactly what I said.
