Yeah, getting spotted would probably not be a good idea in a high-tension hostage situation
Also, there are a few stealth sections in Modern Warfare 2's campaign and co-op mode which are alright. I especially enjoyed the two or three Spec Ops stealth missions. Overall, it's obviously not a stealth game, but eh.

Yeah I really enjoyed the Spec Ops level where you're in the snow and there's patrols with dogs on the rounds. Had loads of fun doing that one.

The one in Chernobyl where you have to pick out the Gilli suit snipers by their scope flashes is also pretty nice on the hardest difficulty- you die in 1 hit. (Or go to Last Stand if you have a partner.)
Another one; Alpha Protocol has the potential to be a stealth game- something of a Stealth-Shooter-RPG, from what I've read. Unfortunately, while the character development system and story are said to be pretty intricate, it's also apparently riddled with bugs, AI flaws, clumsy gameplay, and glitches, enough so that they detract from what could have been a great game and drag it down to the realm of mediocre. Average scores are about 50-65% out of a scale of 100%.
Oh and hey guys, I heard about this one game called Lugaru or something where there is a pretty large amount of sneaking missions.

Oh come on. Surely not every game needs to equip us with a big ol' penis substitute to murder virtual people with.
Real badasses take on the forces of evil with nothing but a lamp and dodgy voice acting.

Duke would like to speak with you, Zhukov

Yeah I considered Alpha Protocol for a while, but the reviews I read convinced me it wasn't really a must-have.

Nah, not so much. I can run away from fights and be a pussy in real life. Why would I want to do it in games?

Oh, in the Alien V Predator games, all of the Predator campaign missions are pretty much stealth based. Unfortunately there are way more Human missions than Alien or Predator campaign missions. I think Yahtzee reviewed it a while ago, cba to check.

I'm sorry but I gotta agree with Renegade_Turner, I love Horror games and such but I'd love to get some kind of weapon to fend off the monsters/guards or whatever they are..
I really don't like hiding in the dark where I myself can't see anything which makes it all the more scary since the monster can fuck you up there too, you don't have any weapons to defend yourself anyway right?
I just like to run up to a monster with a sword/club/baseball bat and take my chances fighting it!

But that's the whole point. It's a horror game.
It's supposed to be scary!

And that's a reason why I'm sorta done with the horror game genre, if there are no weapons in the games I won't buy it

which is a stupid reason since I know that Amnesia is a really good game and a friend of mine recommended it to me.
I feel safer having a melee weapon that can knockout an enemy, totally eliminating that safe feeling by having you running into the shadows and hide is what Amnesia does really well, I never said a horror game should have weapons though.
The only object to make you feel safe is your oil lamp but even that works in a disadvantage cause you need to be in total darkness for the monsters to go away

That's like if me and you played a game where you repeatedly punched me in the face, and then I complained about it hurting and then you saying "That's the whole point. It's a punching game. It's supposed to be painful!" That bit of information wouldn't make the experience any more enjoyable.

That wouldn't be a game. That would be a fight. All the more so if it was taking place in the real...
...
Actually, bugger it. No amount of blindingly clever arguments on my part are going to change your mind. So instead I shall just call you a pussy.
Pussy.

You don't really have any clever arguments for that, because it's true. I could punch myself in the face all day and feel some emotions but they wouldn't be good emotions. I apply the same logic to not playing games which purely scare the shit out of me and don't provide any rewarding emotions. Basically, for me, playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent would be a bit like punching myself in the face repeatedly.

On page one, I wrote:Well, using fear is just another emotive tactic that helps immerse you in the game. When you are actually scared about what's going to happen, the natural implication is that you also care about what's going to happen; and, specifically, what's going to happen to the player. You do not want to see your guy butchered up by evil bastarfs, you want to see him triumphantly escaping from their evil clutches, preferably on the back of a dolphin or something.
As for rewarding emotions, it would be pretty rewarding to not die, wouldn't you say? The whole objective of the game is to get from A to B without being massacred. Success in doing so leads to relief which leads to gradual happiness/joy which increases all the way up to the climax and ending of the game.
