Virtual Photography

Post by Dudeman » Sun Oct 24, 2010 5:03 am

From time to time, I find a particularly good looking scene in a video game, and decide to take a screenshot of it, maybe touch it up a little, and set it as my desktop for a few weeks. I was wondering if any of you did the same thing. If you do, it would be great if you would post your pictures in this thread, along with the name of the game it came from. I'll start it off with a few of mine:

Image
A custom story from the "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" forums.

Image
A scene from my [Heavily modded] Fallout 3 game. This is just after a sandstorm, and the sun is rising. The beauty to be found in the barren landscape surprised me.

Image
A scene from the last level of Metro 2033, which is a great game (And book; The book came first, btw). One of the "Demons" is about to attack me, and I have a great view of the broken city.

Image
A scene from my [Heavily modded] Oblivion game. This was taken from the Arena District of the Imperial City, at about 12:30. The lighting at this time of night is fantastic, and the White Gold Tower is visible for miles.

Image
A scene from my [Heavily modded] Oblivion game. This was taken just north of Bravil, overlooking the Nibiney Basin. The blue glow of the mountains in the distance really adds to the overall mystic atmosphere.

Well, 3/5 of the pictures there are from Bethesda games, which are famous for their mod capability, so I'd have to say yes.

So no one else does this?

Nope, I don't, but the pictures are pretty.

If anything funny happens whilst playing Halo/Some other such game with theatre capability, I'll go back and record/Screenshot it, but beyond that, I'm afraid not...

I remember taking photos of the scenery when I played through Dark Messiah.
Man, I loved that game. Too short, though.
