Doesn't matter. The purpose of this place is to support Wolfire, not to advertise. They should look for their fodder someplace else.
The only thing that should be marketed here is things from Wolfire. That sanctity should be protected.

This is the randomness forum.
Since I didn't see the original post, was it in the form of "hey check out this cool site!" or was it an actual advertisment?

Forum advertisers often advertise in the "hey, i found this really cool site..etc" way, and if it is anything that has to do with saving/getting money, it's an forbidden ad, no matter which way they say it.

Well, you can't keep such guys from re-registering. When you block the IP, they get a new one. When you block the username, the get a new one. When you block the mail address, they get a new one. When you block the ISP, you're a moron. When you block the IP range, you're an idiot. So you can't REALLY do anything against it.

I personally wouldn't go through the trouble of getting a new IP to use a forum, but I guess some might.

I don't know what you are referring to. I meant IP adresses. Switching them is not that difficult as long as you haven't got a static IP. If you have a static IP, proxies do the job.

Yep. Although (I can't believe I'm adding to this nonsense) you really can get an Ipod from those sites.

And what do you have to do for them in exchange?

you usually end up having to spend more time and money on other offers. one time i actually read all the fine print (i was bored) on one of those sites, and they told you to buy 6 things on linked sites with a total of at least $500 in order to be eligible for an ipod.
