Not responding on startup

Post by ThePirate » Fri Aug 31, 2012 4:23 pm

I know it says not to post your problems in here, but i've tried everything else.
I've already sent an email to [email protected] about it.

Everytime I start the game, it instantly says its not responding.
I've been able to see the menu, WINDOWS just thinks its not responding.
I've tried to play in compatibility mode, I've adjusted the screen resolution in the config file,
I've changed it from window'd to full screen, still the same thing.
I get no errors in the CMD window, and I can't find anything wrong besides windows saying its not responding. I REALLY wanna play this game, but I feel like I just paid 30 dollars to take up 2 gbs on my computer.
My specs are as follows:
CPU: 8 cores
CPU Mhz: 1729
RAM: 6.1gb
Intel i7 processor, 1.73ghz
Video card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870
Video ram: 3.7gb
Up to date drivers
OS: Windows 7
I can run crysis on high with about 30-40 fps, so I don't understand whats wrong
This is an Asus laptop btw.
Please help D:

Well, you paid 30 dollars to play the game when it's officially released. If it has worked at all in the past, the only thing I could think of is uninstall it (maybe also deleting anything it left) and re-installing. Otherwise, wait for the people to email you back, they're very helpful.

It's definitely not your specs, and it isn't because it's an Asus(I have played OG on worse, and I now use an Asus). It's possible your video card might be the problem (people with various ATI and Nvida cards have had problems in the past) however, according to this, that isn't the problem. Do you have any other info about the crash?

Thanks first off for responding, But there isn't much else I can say about the crash, the cmd prompt that comes up doesn't spam down with an errors or anything, it all seems normal. It only says:
RGBA Bits, depth: 8 8 8 8, 24
Anti-aliasing samples: 0
V-Syns: 0
32 texture units supported
GL_MAX_VERTEX_UNIFORM_COMPONENTS: 1024
0 SDL joysticks found
0 XInput joysticks found
Hardware threads: 8
Its weird because randomly when I try to run it, ill be able to see the level select menu of the game, and less than a second later it says "Overgrowth.exe has stopped wroking"
