[mod] The Moon is Down

Post by Silverfish » Fri May 06, 2011 4:50 pm

The Moon is Down
The Moon is Down
It's finally time to release this mod that WolfBrother9393, Silverfish and Autious have been working on since the end of March!

>> Download <<
Thanks to Anton for hosting!

You will need Markuss' Old China asset pack to play this level!
Get it here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10921

The scripted features are the following:
  • AI is deaf
  • AI can use pathfinding when on patrol (not used in mod, but it's there)
  • AI return to patrol when it can't find the player
  • Ragdolls settle more easily
Here is a FULL playthrough of the level (spoiler alert):

Here's the contents of the included readme:

Code: Select all

The Moon is Down

NOTE: This mod is for alpha 129, it
almost certainly won't work for any
alpha before or after that alpha
UNLESS you DO NOT install the files
under the "Data\Scripts" folder!

(in other words, the map and assets
will probably work for a lot of
alphas, but the scripts won't)

 -- -- -- CREDITS -- -- --
 * Level Design *
Emerson "WolfBrother9393" Smith

 * Scripting *
Max "Autious" Danielsson

 * Art *
Lukas "Silverfish" Orsvärn
Old China asset pack made by Markuss

Special thanks to John Graham, Aubrey Serr,
Jeff Rosen & David Rosen of Wolfire Games

 -- -- -- HOW TO INSTALL -- -- --
Merge the contents of the Data folder in this
zip with the Data folder in your Overgrowth
installation directory.

Remember that you're going to need the Old
China asset pack by Markuss to be able to
run this mod. Download that from here:
http://forums.wolfire.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=10921

You're also going to need a pretty beefy
computer.

 -- -- -- HOW TO PLAY -- -- --
Start Overgrowth, in the level selection menu
there is a text box to load custom levels.
Write "TheMoonIsDown.xml" (without the quotes,
also note the big letters and the .xml at the
end) and hit Load.

 -- -- -- HOW TO UNINSTALL -- -- --
Go into the folder called "Original Script
Files" and merge the Data folder in there
with the Data folder in your Overgrowth
installation directory.

This will revert back to the original script
files as of alpha 129.

 ** WHALE MAN APPROVED **
Enjoy!
And please let us know what you think!

So is it just a level? Because I wouldn't call it a mod if so.

There are custom assets as well as some scripting in there, so it's definitely a mod, although a small one. I should probably include the feature list.
viemmsakh wrote:Epic! I really think we need some more organization for mods and maps. Just one Secret forum to dump everything. Good job mano.
I think another forum just for custom game content would be pretty sweet. Right now almost everything is in the "Project Showoff Thread", but if there was a separate forum for this stuff everyone could create their own thread for their projects so one could better keep track of them and comment on them easier.

I'd love that at least.

Thanks to everyone who says they liked it! :D
If you played through it, please write your feedback to us here, it'll be very useful for eventual future projects!

Thanks! Silverfish designed the moon-cross symbol for the village and I made the poster for the release.

Thanks Silverfish for making and uploading a playthrough!!!

It was a difficult project that took longer than any of us anticipated but it came out better than we even expected.

Thanks guys for playing it!
