"Overgrowth has stopped working" on launch, every time.

Post by Aggrosaur » Fri Mar 16, 2012 1:25 pm

Hello everyone, I just preordered and installed the game, but whenever I try to launch it, it instantly crashes on launch. Sometimes I get the "Will you send bug data" or something like that message, and sometimes I don't. I don't want to risk messing anything up so I figured I'd ask here.

I'm on Windows Vista, service pack 2 I think.

Thanks for any help.

Chances are that this is a hardware problem and doing either of those won't help (for the record, SUMLauncher only adds content, so it will -never- make Overgrowth work if it isn't already working without it)

Aggrosaur, what graphics card and processor do you have? could you include your hwreport.txt file here?

You should be able to find it here for Windows:

Code: Select all

My Documents\Wolfire\Overgrowth\Data\hwreport.txt

It seems to be something with either Vista or my video card. *Sigh*. Hopefully they'll make it compatible soon, I REALLY want to play this.

So it seems to be a problem with Vista mostly, although there's a reported issue with Windows 7 with someone who has my video card, the GTX 460. Maybe tomorrow's update will fix something.

Game already works with Vista and Geforce GTX 460 should be able to run the game without problem.

Check your computer: update drivers, update .C++, .NET, Windows, check for virus, close background sofware running, etc.

Everything is as updated as it possibly can be. No viruses, nothing else open. IDK what the hell is wrong with it then.

If you press "send report" does it actually show you the report to be sent, or does it just send it? because if it shows you that could be extremely useful to us

It doesn't really say "Send Report", it just asks if I would like it to log something, don't remember. It doesn't do anything after I click yes.

Doesn't anybody know what could be wrong here? There's nothing wrong with my hardware, and I don't THINK there's anything wrong with my software...can't anyone help?

The creators really should focus on this rather than making the game have more stuff. If people can't play the game they will eventually start losing customers. This is so far the only game that won't work for me, andI am using windows 7
