Any Good Beginner Tutorials? Also, 4 Player Versus Mode?
Any Good Beginner Tutorials? Also, 4 Player Versus Mode?
Sorry for the double topic, I didn't want to make 2 separate posts for my 1st time asking something on the site.
The 1st question is self explanatory, I've just started playing Overgrowth and I'm basically lost. I get the upfront stuff like spawning objects and moving them around, but I really need help in the shortcut and hotkey department. after a few hours of trying buttons out I figured out how to change the colors of objects and adjust character attributes but I know there's more. Can anyone link me like a tutorial page/video to assist me I'd greatly appreciate it.
My 2nd quesion needs a bit of a description, I want to make a 4 player version of the versus gamemode (the grass beach map) but I don't know how to do it, can anyone help?
It seems doable for a 2 v 2 type deal (you wouldn't even have to mess around with the score board that way) but I definitely wouldn't mind having a free for all match with my friends.
I tried doing the team thing (I made copies of the 2 rabbits) but when one side kills off the other the game doesn't start the next round. Anyone know what I have to do to fix this?
Thanks you in advance!

4v4 can not be done...
There are a few beginner tutorials on YouTube look them up...

I didn't say 4 v 4, I'm talking about 2v2 splitscreen versus mode. like so,Phoenixwarrior141 wrote:4v4 can not be done...

(Screenshot I took a couple moments before)
The scoring system doesn't work when you have 4 people; a team doesn't get a point when they eliminate the other nor does the game reset the level for the next round.
My question is how can I rework the system to fix this.
Also I hoping there would be a text tutorial somewhere I apologize for not being specific.

I still don't think that can be done. Perhaps you could run two Overgrowth.exe's at the same time, resize each of them to take half your screen, and do the scoring manually? That'd be an easy solution, if your computer can handle it.

so if you have 4 player splitscreen already working, it should be possible.
then youll have to do some scripting in the Data/Scripts/versusmode.as
the victory check is done in VictoryCheckVersus() in line 253+
you would pretty much have to rewrite line 265-296 so it is based on teams.
i cant do it as i dont have 3 controllers, but if you can do some scripting and need help, well help
Edit:and it should be in the modding subforum then

Sorry, seems I misread your post earlier. It's cool you've got it working 4-way, I didn't know it could be done!

You can do 4 player splitscreen even without the 4 controllers, but of course nobody but your character moves.Thomason1005 wrote:so if you have 4 player splitscreen already working, it should be possible.

But thank you I'll check what you said out and i'll definitely move this over to the modding area.

I didn't know either until like 2 nights ago, you just do the splitscreen command (ctrl+shift+p) on more than one character (however many players you have).Endoperez wrote:Sorry, seems I misread your post earlier. It's cool you've got it working 4-way, I didn't know it could be done!

Re: Any Good Beginner Tutorials? Also, 4 Player Versus Mode?
I have just finished my versus / FFA script where you are able to play with up to four players with a working HUD. You could give it a try
