Unofficial Overgrowth a185, weekly build

Post by Jeff » Mon Jul 09, 2012 3:58 am

The unofficial, Overgrowth a185 leaked build is here! Note, you can also download it on your Humble Store page now!

(watch in hd)

Changelog:
- Added challenge end ui
- Fixed bug that could cause "Error converting utf8 string to utf16" message
- Fixed bug in OnSameTeam check
- Updated angelscript to 2.24.0a

A "leaked build" is when John and I grab the latest SVN build and package it up for you guys. It has a ton of known bugs, so don't worry if it doesn't work for you. It is not condoned by David and Aubrey but we want to keep you guys in the loop and give you stuff to play with regularly!

If you find any bugs, please email a full description along with your system specs to [email protected].

*NOTE* Please remember that these are unofficial alphas and they do not represent a finished product. They are not polished builds, just straight up raw development dumps.

To download the alpha, use one of these links:

thanks for the update, looking good.
A small thing like the level end screen is a good step towards making this feel like proper level.

Good job :)

For new users
  • If you have not installed Overgrowth yet you can use the SUMLauncher to do so!
  • If you already have Overgrowth installed you can use the SUMLauncher to update it to the latest alpha.
  • The SUMLauncher also allows you to install the Menu Mod which gives you another 115+ maps to try.
For Existing SUMLauncher users
  • If the menu files were changed in this alpha, the menu mod will no longer work. Updating the Menu Mod (to re-enable custom maps) might take us a little while. Once we have uploaded a new version you can use the menu mod installer to update it. (And don't worry, it won't break anything if you try running the installer before we upload the new files.)
  • It may also take us a bit to update the Menu Mod to include any new maps that this alpha may have added.
For future updates keep an eye on our twitter @SUMOGUtilities!

I've been longing for the possibility to add and edit the team parameters for a long time, so this is a great addition today! :D
Now all we need is a function to have the other NPC's follow the player or teamleader and it will be even better. :D

how can i disable that pretty "challenge end screen" thingy?
it slightly annoys me because i rather reset maps or npcs with l or x or exit to menu to load another map.
i thought i ask people who know more about scripts than me. :)

In most levels, the lag is fairly bad unless I disable all graphics settings, and even then, I only get a slight increase in FPS. My computer's not exactly low spec, with i7, 8GB RAM etc. but now whenever I get to the end screen added in this Alpha, my FPS drops to a consistent 3... what am I doing wrong? D:

You can still revive characters with x, or reset with l as long as you do it before the challenge screen comes up. Also, you can hit replay, or exit to the main menu from the end screen.
Sadly, the continue to play button doesn't seem to be working.

On the level end screen I can't click continue like I could before. Now I have to restart the whole level or go back to the main menu. the arrow pointing right doesn't work

Here is an update that should make the right arrow button do what the "continue" button used to do: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3236655/challe ... ntinue.zip

This contains a level.as file that should replace the old one in Data/Scripts/.

Will the update be available through SUMLauncher?
