Not a valid Win32 application

Post by TheFishWizard » Wed Jan 23, 2013 7:27 pm

Every time I run the game either normal or with the SUMLauncher it gives me an error telling me that Overgrowth.exe in directory C:Program Files\Wolfire\Overgrowth is not a valid Win32 application. The game won't even start up. Please help.

Check if it's on compatibility mode.

I don't think that's the problem since it was running fine just the other day, but how to I check if it is on compatibility mode?

Well now I'm doubting that it is on compatibility mode, but to make sure, just right click on the Overgrowth's .exe or shortcut and click on "Open File Location". Right click on Overgrowth.exe and click on properties. In the compatibility tab there's a check for it to run in compatibility mode.

Look at your desktop, then right click Overgrowth, next look on the very bottom and it should say properties. After that look under compatibility then look for compatibility mode. Should look like this for Windows 7: Image The rest should be easy I assume.

I also get this error.

Changing the compatibility mode doesn't do anything, XP isn't even listed in the list for me.... that could be part of the problem though.

I have the exact same problem; I use Windows XP. 32 bit.

C:\Program Files\Wolfire\Overgrowth.exe is not a valid Win32 application.

I had just purchased this game yesterday. Could it be an issue with the new build?

Yes, this could very well be an Alpha 195 problem. David, the main coder, thought something like this might happen. You should send them a message through the bug e-mail or support e-mail, and hopefully you can figure something out together. It seems like they don't have XPs themselves, so they can't test it.

Sorry, but it seems you just paid to get into the bug squad! :P

Try downloading Alpha 194, hopefully you'll have better luck with that.
