Gladiator

Post by LittleJP » Wed May 01, 2013 6:08 pm

Well, I've been running the gladiator mini-game for a while. Just a few thoughts
*AI seems to love sweeps a lot. I'd say 80% of the time I'm dying due to getting swept off my feet, then kicked in the face while I'm on the ground
*I cannot for the life of me progress beyond 3 v 1. It becomes extraordinarily difficult at that point.
*Will the AI dodge? Ever? It seems a little unfair
*Punches seem to be the King of quick combat. Turner gets them out so much quicker than the AI can kick. I just have to watch for sweeps and punches.

* The sweeping needs a serious fix, considering it's practically impossible to do one as a player.
* That's not really a problem. Fighting multiple enemies is supposed to be realistically much harder than fighting single enemies. If you know how to go about it, though, it's certainly possible.
* They dodge occasionally for me, if memory serves.
* People think leg cannons are OP? Pfft. That's child's play. Punches are OP.

You know, while you are in ragdoll you can (if timed right) block the incoming attack, just like any other block. I hope the A.I will be able to dodge attacks, it was in Lugaru so... ;)

It just takes a while to learn to fight multiple guys. You should be able to get the hang of it.

It just seems inconstant how the difficulty scales.

Also, I've noticed that the window to counter throws is very small. WAD?

In my opinion, counter throws are way too easy at the moment. All you need to do is keep the block button pressed after making a successful block. I often throw opponents accidentally, because I don't release the button in time.

i find it a little unrealistic that you can judo-throw while holding a weapon, i guess the samurai did it, but i dont really like it

Actually not unrealistic at all.

While it's possible to throw your sword away for a move, those seem to be rather specific - perhaps counter counter counter counter counter counter throws. The one at 1:37 looks the best, but even that has a counter! The counter doesn't look so cool anymore though. The 5th of the nested counters is a judo throw where both of them lose their swords.

I count the moves for that section like so:
1) thrust to the face
2) parry the the left
3) thrust to the neck after the first parry
4) parry to the right
5) hilt-strike/throw to the face, over the parrying sword
6) judo throw where the sword is lost!
7)leg grab to ground slam
8 ) leg throw

LOL always have to prove someone wrong eh Endoperez? It would be cool to have a different animation when doing a judo throw or something while having a weapon in-hand.
