Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
I've just downloaded the a211 and the game is practically unplayable: in the new prototype arenas i get very low fps (4-5 fps) and in the other maps the game does not work much better. Also the graphics has become "grainy" and a lot of decals are disappeared. I never had these problems before this alpha. (sorry for my english)
Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
Any way to fix these errors?
And very nice to see some female models are being made.

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
Anyone know how to turn off steam auto update for OG, the next update will completely stop me from playing as steam only allows for the play of two alphas back. Due to the new graphical updates, I cant play, but I am able to run 209, if there is any way to do this, if anyone knows, before alpha 212 would be optimum timing

Mac OS X El Capitan here,
I've tried installing the internal_testing and advance_testing branches, both give me a "DISK READ ERROR" once d/l is complete. I've noticed that the .app bundle downloaded is only about 830mb big, and is missing the executable and much of the data.

I am just happy that there is some development...

I don't think auto-updates can be deactivated on Steam. That kinda blows. I don't get the whole thing Steam has with treating its users like toddlers that can't be trusted to manage their game files.halzoid wrote:Anyone know how to turn off steam auto update for OG, the next update will completely stop me from playing as steam only allows for the play of two alphas back. You can download every alpha as a DRM-free version directly from the SPF, though.

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
The temp register thing is a warning given because your graphics card doesn't have enough low-level register/memory to store local data, meaning it gets pushed up a level, making it slower. I think we'll disable those warnings as they aren't game-breaking.
I'll look into the mac release issue right now.

Alpha 209 can probably still be downloaded somewhere on the cdn. Does anyone pertain a link? It's not possible to get it from steam as far as i'm aware.

Garabaldi: Your issue might be hardware failure related, meaning it doesn't really have anything to do with Overgrowth per se.
You can read more here: (a little windows focused) https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -FKCB-4230
What i recommend you do is to run disk checker and see if it helps: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201639

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
Thanks for the response, but now I'm wondering if I'm getting the performance I should be, because I've only seen this error pop up since the last couple of updates and it feels like things have maybe gotten a little choppier.Autious wrote:The temp register thing is a warning given because your graphics card doesn't have enough low-level register/memory to store local data, meaning it gets pushed up a level, making it slower. I have an R9 290 with 4GB and feel like that's more than enough memory to go around.. or am I way off?
I tried turning off Shaders and using Medium textures and I still get the same error 4 or 5 times.

Sure, just select the desired version from here.Autious wrote:Alpha 209 can probably still be downloaded somewhere on the cdn. Does anyone pertain a link? It's not possible to get it from steam as far as i'm aware.
Also, I already asked this in the a210 release thread, but any plans on making (Linux) x86_64 binaries again?

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
Well, on the plus side, Overgrowth has never played better on my computer than it does now! Keep up the good work.
Although lots of player-made levels give errors when you try to run them now, which is a shame. Hopefully they just need to be updated to match the new Overgrowth build. Any thoughts?

Re: Unofficial Overgrowth a211 build
If anyone has the same problem as me (steam "DISK READ ERROR"), I solved it by replacing the overgrowth.app in my SteamApps folder with the downloaded alpha from wolfire.com then restarting steam and updating OG
