Hardware Spec Request

I was playing an older alpha (a200) due to graphical glitches in the more recent ones, and got a request for computer hardware when the program opened. I hadn't seen this before and haven't seen it since on either this alpha or any more recent ones. Has anyone else got this, is this a new request that was applied to all alphas, what exact specifications does it check for, and does it do continuous checks in case of hardware changes?
