I tried all changing the settings in the menu. Is there anything else I can do to improve this? I'm assuming it should look more like the screenshots that appear in the loading screen, you know, where I can see more than a few feet ahead of me.

So this issue goes away if you enable reflection capture in the menu. Who knew.
