I know I don't speak for the devs, but that was just a simple tech demo.Ignoramus wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSHRgM3oPPc

It hasn't been implemented into the main build that we got.
Patience is an important virtue.

Re: What happened to this?
From the looks of it, the alpha we have is to test basic compatibility with a range of different computers and operating systems.
Doubtless we will get those animations (and all the other amazing stuff, for that matter), but how soon is entirely up to the Wolfire team

Well, if we are gonna test the game for compatablity, shouldent we get to play with a rag doll?
Heck, Open mouth too far and Turner shoops the whoop, crashing the entire system (OWENAGE!)

Yep, you guys will see the creation of Overgrowth from the Alpha 1 that we released this week to the final version in 2009.
Re: What happened to this?
I love being able to watch the buildups that way...
It gives such a beautiful extra element to the finished game, too...
"I remember when this was all a curving brick wall and a rock..."
Epic.

Re: What happened to this?
Does this mean that the projected FULL release will be in 2009? That's a lot faster than I would have expected.Jeff wrote:Yep, you guys will see the creation of Overgrowth from the Alpha 1 that we released this week to the final version in 2009.
Re: What happened to this?
The release date is supposed to be Q1 2009, so yes, it's darn fast.
Re: What happened to this?
Patience... They'll be updating it weekly with new stuff I'm sure. Don't take the ALPHA as a FINAL build.Chainsaw man wrote:Well, if we are gonna test the game for compatablity, shouldent we get to play with a rag doll?

When I typed that I was in a excited mood...
Re: What happened to this?
no need to be mean about it... I also was expecting something more like this when they released the alpha... it's a shame they've decided to trash something that works just because they got a flashy new title for the game... <.<Ltp0wer wrote:I know I don't speak for the devs, but that was just a simple tech demo.

This is what an alpha is!
Wikipedia says alpha testing is:
1. A process where, as an application approaches full functionality, it is often made available to a carefully selected subset of sophisticated users. This differs from later beta testing, where the product is more functional and made available to a wide group of users.
They promised an alpha and we received one.
It's to bug test the basics on many different computers first to ensure basic compatibility.
They haven't removed anything that should be in there, only made sure that the build we were given worked well and did what was required of it.
When it's time for those features, we will test them.
Until then, be patient.

Good thing we didn't go with our other working title, Overgrowth 2000 - Gold Edition.Hazel-roo wrote:no need to be mean about it... Lugaru is perfect enough as it is-- why mess with success? Overgrowth is a completely separate project that, while still remaining true to the original spirit of Lugaru, provides its own, modern-day interpretation using state-of-the-art technology and professional art direction. Besides, nothing was "trashed": as a programmer myself, I can understand that the code, while important, is not of the utmost-- instead, it is the experience gained while writing the code that is the most important because it will continuously manifest itself and advance further in future projects.Hazel-roo wrote:no need to be mean about it...
