What's the most practical way to access the OG mods of this game?

Overgrowth is a game I recently got. I've actually known about it for a long time, but forgot about it. Glad to find out that I rediscovered the game in its final version!
Anyways, that being said, I looked at the workshop and thought that it is pretty small for a game that existed for a decade. So I looked around and found out that Wolfire games have their own forums. It is likely that the original mods will be hosted here.
There are many things that I've yet to understand, such as the "SUMLoader" tool that is used to mod the game. Does anyone have a quick guide on how to use this application? I fear that I might read an old outdated one that doesn't work for the current version of the game.
