Alpha 10 Links

Post by Jeff » Tue Jan 20, 2009 3:44 am

The Alpha 10 leaked build is here! A "leaked build" is when John and I literally grab the latest SVN build and package it up for you guys. It is not condoned by David, Phillip, and Aubrey, but we want to keep you guys in the loop and give you stuff to play with regularly! There are a bunch of known bugs, so don't worry about reporting issues at the moment.

There are some rumors about a blessed build coming in the next couple of weeks.

New in this version: (blog post coming soon)

P.S. be sure to delete your shadow caches! Just delete the whole Program Files/Wolfire Games/Overgrowth directory and you should be fine.

Also, press P to toggle wireframe stuff. Press 8 and 9 to toggle the Rabbot. Press ` for the console.

UPDATE: please wait on this build, I did not package it correctly!

A Linux build is currently being worked on by Ryan Gordon -- it will be coming soon (?). Sorry for the delay. :<

Press 8 and 9 to toggle the Rabbot.
Rabbot, eh? Exciting! I wonder if it's controllable.

By the way, link is giving me an Access Denied, as usual. :P

I got transfered to a page that says
his XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

Getting errors.
OpenGL error
On line 374 of engine.cpp: invalid enumerant
OpenGL error
On line 321 of textures.cpp: invalid enumerant
OpenGL error
On line 64 of shaders.cpp: invalid value
OpenGL error
On line 64 of shaders.cpp: invalid value
Then it locks up. The only thing changed in my computer since the last one is my processor and I updated Vista to Windows 7 beta.

Is anyone else getting this? :(

Is the screen meant to look like a black box with a white smaller box inside? I guess not.
No error reports.

Pressing 8 to toggle the Rabbot crashes the game for me because of missing files:

Code: Select all

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
Could not find: Data/Textures/blob_shadow.tga
---------------------------
Cancel Try Again [Continue]
---------------------------

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
Could not open file "Data/GLSL/blobshadowdecal.vert"
---------------------------
[OK]
---------------------------
The game quits at that point.

The missing files are blob_shadow.tga, blobshadowdecal.vert and blobshadowdecal.frag. Creating empty files with these names makes the Rabbot appear but throws an error message every frame because the files are empty :)

Bug

Post by turbochop » Tue Jan 20, 2009 9:08 am

I'm sure I should problably post this in the bugs thread, but last time I posted a bug in its respective alpha release thread it was read, so here goes.

I can box select from left to right, but I cannot select from right to left. And is the sky supposed to turn black when I do this?

I've noticed that several of the models don't have a "back" to them, so they end up see-through from one side. Also, I can't load the rabbot either.

Rather than empty files, copy and rename some of the other verts and frags. It's not perfect, but you get a rabbot without constant errors.

Also, press tab for slo-mo when you use the rabbot. Try to move about faster than it can respond and it looks like it's dancing.

Edit: My, what long legs you have Mr Rabbot!

He's a Rabbot. What'd you expect?

...Imma go to the IRC now and yell at Rabbot for being able to play OG sooner than us.

I have the same problem as Ollieh.
Just a black screen with a white box at the top and a white square for the cursor.
