This could be something to post in the alpha 35 thread.

Its a major bug i am solving with john right now, it involves spybot and ad-aware, apparently these programs believe that Lugaru2.exe is trying to send personal data to Lugaru headquarters and they shut down the game. Does anyone know how to disable my antivirus software, or at least assure the system that L2 is safe to run?

Spybot:
Go into Spybot » Mode » Advanced Mode » Tools » Resident. Under the heading "Resident protection status" you will see:

* Resident "SDHelper" (Internet Explorer bad download blocker) active.
* Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of over-all system settings) active.

If the features are checked (activated) they can be deactivated by un-checking them.

Ad-Aware:
Close Ad-Aware.

To stop Ad-Aware loading on start-up, open it and click on Tools » Options. Un-Tick (Un-Check) the "Load Ad-Aware on Windows start-up".

Did this solve any problems? Or did you already know this and it's more complicated?

Oh yeah, are the maps supposed to be XML files, maybe thats the problem, because Lugaru2.exe cannot find the custom map files when I try to load them

Yeah, the files should be xml files. What custom maps are you trying to load? Do you include the ".xml" at the end of the file that you attempt to load?

You should always have some antivirus software on your computer. I don't know what software you had, but Overgrowth has worked just fine with both F-Secure and Avast antivirus programs, and I don't think anyone else has had to uninstall antivirus programs to get Overgrowth working.

I'll reply here, not in the new thread. You could have renamed this thread by editing your original post.

The report you posted doesn't say anything. The technical information about the error might help, but I don't think it'd help us - it's more useful for Wolfire.

Could you post some extra info, like exactly what lines lugaru2.exe shows when it crashes? I doubt any of us normal users can do anything, unless someone has had the exact same problem, and that's hard to tell when we only know that the program crashes. :(

If you're desperate, you could try downloading the alpha again and try if a reinstall helps. I don't think that's the problem.

I reinstalled the alpha like 12 times and it still doesn't work :?
anyways the loading screen normally crashes on "hotspots"
I can hear the background noises the wind whisleing in my speakers, yet I never see the actual terrain
